M1 Roadworks

I'm travelling from mid-Sussex to Northampton tomorrow and have to be there at about 10am. Am I better going up the M1 past the J6-10 roadworks, or going up the M40 then A45? I intend to leave at about 7am.

Same question for the return, leaving Northampton at about 3.30.
