Scooby understeer

Got a 97 UK scooby wagon a few weeks ago, it all seems very good apart from the front tyres which are Champiro (WTF). I know that the Imprezas tend to understeer, but it is really p155 poor. Is it likely just to be the tyres, or is it normal for a scooby. Basically, it feels like it ought to turn in but just slides, especially on the power.

I've posted this before but here goes again...
Scoobys can be set up to do virtually anything you want. Prodrive have two sets of settings which can be applied to any car, the first gives very darty handling (no understeer, just like a big go kart) and the second is set up for high speed stability.
My 98MY Turbo had the Prodrive Suspension Kit and was set up with the aggressive darty handling, At the front this put the maximum amount of negative camber on keeping both sides the same. I don't know what the rear settings were. This then had virtually no understeer and handled just like a big go-kart. I never noticed any high speed stability issues even at 135mph in the wet!!!
From memory the settings are posted in the FAQ on the Subaru Impreza Drivers Club Web site (www.sidc.co.uk) and can be applied to any Impreza (old shape) regardless of spring/shock type).

PS At the time Prodrive recommended PZeros and on 17" wheels I thought that they were fantastic, I also drove the car on the original 16s with the OE Bridgestones with a mate who also had a Scooby and he was amazed at how my car would just turn-in.

A good set up for the car would be around 1 degree negative camber and 5 minutes of toe in at the front each side, 0.5 degrees negative camber on the rear with parallel toe.
But, if your prepared to be a bit more agressive and kill the inside edges of your tyres more quickly you could try, 1.5 dgerees negative front and 1 degree negative rear each side with 7 minutes toe in front and 5 minutes toe in rear each side...that's nice and oversteery
