Anyone recommend any tyres for CTR? Only had the bloody thing four months and I've eaten my first set!

What are Avon ZZ1's like, they seem a reasonable price?

I heard on the hondarevolutions forum that one guy was using Toyo Proxes T1S. He mentioned it reduced the tyre noise a bit.

Only had my CTR a week so far. A hell of a lot different from the ITR I had before it! You can actually hear the radio at motorway speeds without resorting to the top 10% of the volume knob travel.

What sort of mileage do you get from a tank of fuel, and how much fuel can you put in when the warning light is on? So far I've got 270ish miles from the first couple of tanks (50% motorway, 50% taking it easy(ish) running it in) but only put in about 38 litres of juice each time.

Hmmm, somebody who has moved from ITR to CTR. I'd be interested in comparitive comments.

Tyres?

Avons are good (I hear)
Toyos are good (I know, I keep buying them)
Bridgestones are good but I can only comment of RE010s

Comparitive comments so far:

Lot more torque lower down from the i-VTEC, but then again it has an extra gear, so may just feel a bit more eager low down as the ratios are spread differently. I'm still taking it gently to run it in (a relative term for Hondas - it was suggested I keep it below 6k for the first 600 or so miles and then have some VTEC foolery). With the extra torque you can generally make better progress without your passengers thinking you are on a final qualifying lap. A bit more of a relaxing drive overall, and I don't feel I need to go VTEC all the time to make rapid progress.

Gearstick from dash looks a bit dodgy but functions superbly. Nice feel to.

It rides much better on roads that aren't so good. I live down a fairly bumpy lane - The Teg could loosen your fillings but the CTR smoothes them out better, yet it doesn't roll over round the corners either.

Steering is different. Is quite a bit lighter, with a different feel. I found the Teg a bit treacly, especially on tighter slower turns. Seats don't grip you like Teg Recaros, but you don't fall out of them - still more than adequate. I'm still struggling to find the ideal seat position though.

Much more interior space. I didn't really get it for this reason but its all useful, although the Teg was surprising useful for boot space, but not the rear seats.

Only problem is coming from the Teg you knew what speed you were doing from the noise and feel of the car. With the CTR you can rack up speed without really realising because of the extra torque and lower noise.

IMHO overall - when you're really in the mood for a a blast, the Teg is the one to go for over the CTR due to the ride, LSD, feel, noise and manic on/off VTEC nature. If I could afford to run 2 cars I'd still have it for these exact reasons. The CTR is easier to live with for the rest of the time, is just as fast in a straight line - corners I'm not so sure about but it grips pretty well - and is generally a bit more refined. Driving them you get the impression the Teg was the built by the engineers for people who want a road going racer (I can't believe I've just typed that cliche but thats my feeling). The engineers still had a good hand in the CTR, but the rough corners (noise, ride etc) were softened a bit to make it appeal to the mass market. The CTR has 2 sides - refined(ish) runabout with a menacing bit of poke whereas as the Teg was a bit all or nothing, but the all was superb, the nothing a tad tedious and hard to live with all day everday.

What does anybody else think?

Hey Foggy, Good little review.

I've always wondered what hardcore Intgegra drivers would think of the CTR.

Had mine since December. Picked it up from Dartford off the ferry (imported) and drove up to Stoke getting about 38mpg for a steady run. The next few tank fulls only gave me about 24mpg (horrified) and only doing about 3-4000revs!!

Must have been something to do with running in as I'm getting about 30ish mpg now. My fuel warning light comes on worryingly early so I fill up only to find that there's about 20litres still left in the tank but I'm not keen on 'Russian Roulette' with my fuel so I fill up anyway.

Agree with you on the torque, haven't driven an Integra but from what I hear you have to sound like a hooligan to get it going.

Many thanks for the comments on tyres, guys. I may go for Avon or Toyo as they look good value for money. Bridgestones seem a tad expensive and the ones the car comes with keep giving out at the rear on wet roundabouts without much provocation

TOYO R1s are very good - I'm very pleased with mine. 70 quid from Topgeartyres.co.uk

100 per cent better in the wet than the Potenza.
