Has anyone seen Carnage on Bravo. Its like max power but on the telly, most amusing. Its full of Kev boys and their so called sports cars and various bolt on power enhancing bits. Have a look its very sad.

Saturn,

The sad fact is that I've started to watch it (obviously not for the intended content). But me and the misus watch it as our alternative comedy.

What get's my goat is that they're all 'car enthusiasts', bollocks, its all 'my mate Dave knows this geeza'. They haven't got one ounce of car knowledge, just the ability to spend their whimsical (sp) salaries on ally tat and neons.

Certainly worth a watching for a laugh.

Problem is that I'm dying to get some of those funky tinted lights and some neons for my Chimp. What'd ya reckon...

I'll get my coat

The best bit is the road test done by the bimbo each week. Every single week she drives a proper car and manages to mention whether driving it with your hair down is a problem and whether it will beat a 'Cossie' off from the lights. In this new era of PC'ness I'm considering writing to the Broadcasting Standards Authority to complain that it encourages racing on the roads

Oh, another thing, they have this 'what is your dream car' question. One gimp answered (in a squeeky pre-pubescent voice) - 'Its got to be a scooby, one of the best cars in the world, innit'.

Hmm, nice high aspirations then.

Nothing against scoobys (other that those tits that try and gate my Tiv)

To be honest I find it funny and it also reminds me of my ex's Fiesta that we Maxed. It was called "The Beast", black with a Cossie Tail, Mirrored windows, big ICE install, fat alloys and a big(ish) engine.

Then he smashed it up with a baseball bat...! Gutted I was.

Steve,

Since clearly your above us all with our pitiful salaries, I presume you are earning over £1million a year (from the way in which you write). But Im affriad looking at the whole modifying situation on a broad spectrum through, how you would see it 'classes' then everyone is at it. Beit the younger generation or the older generation. I keep seeing many people modifying TVR's, Porsches, Ferraris etc, but since there are a smaller percentile in top jobs thats why only a few modify the more expensive marques.

I sit on the fence, I have what you would call a shopping trolley, and a proper rear wheel drive sports car, though you will try and pick holes in it. I have a Fiat Punto GT, and a Porsche Boxster S. I almost bought a Tuscan, but I needed reliability too. Don't get me wrong I still love TVRs. But fact is the Fiat not only is faster than the Boxster its faster round a track. So, following the 'maxpower' regime I have modified it myself over the years on handling, the engine etc and now its 'maxxed'. Saying the people who tune their cars are idiots, no matter whether their 17 or 37 is still a very narrow minded view.

You could also bring up cruising. Some say its a nuisance, but if you look into it more its only a new generations way of socialising, and connected with any generation there is always crime. Whereas cruisers dont get drunk and start fights as might a 'clubber' there might instead be someone that steals a car and does stupid things in it. Both are wrong, but thats life.

I suggest you think in future before you just go striking people down for being 'below' you, just think your best mate might have upgraded their brakes on their car to stop better, so really your taking the piss out of them too for customising their car.

Precisely Dave, bring in things completely irrelevant to the conversation.

Thanks Xedos, I've learned something today - I didn't know the Punto was rear wheel drive.

Careful you don't get splinters in your bum.

Well, the Punto's not the shopping trolley, so it must be the rear wheel drive sports car... no ?

Xedos upto a point your argument seems to be okay until you meet the pr@t that has spent £20k on a stereo and customising bits for a fiat punto or other hot hatch.

If they can afford that, they can afford a decent sports car to begin with.

There is a distinct difference between modifying a cars brakes to improve its performance and slapping on an 8" chrome exhaust pipe onto a 1300cc engine in the mistaken belief that it will make it go faster.

The worst bit about these spotty gits is when they pull up along side us in their 1300 cc Astra GTE look a likey, they actually believe were jealous and have hankerings after such a sleek race car. And they usually try and light the road up. Now is it just me or does Muppet spring to mind

Most of them know I'm not admiring their car when I burst out laughing I must admit there was one that was so OTT that I had to pull over and wipe my eyes I was laughing so much. Give the Carnage boys their credit they certainly are good for a laugh.

JSG,

Punto, front wheel drive eurobox.

Porker, rear drive sports car

Simple, thats what I wrote originally so how you came to your conclusions I dont know.

Re 1300cc + 5inch exhaust, I quite agree. They are twats.

Re my 1400cc, well its making 170hp/litre so my 4inch exhaust does make a difference, all but its 3inches off the turbo to a 4" tip.

Xedos,

Sorry if I cause offence, that wasn't intended. As for earning shed loads of money and being aloof, thats certainly something I ain't.

I'm just sick of muppets who waste their money doing up their blandmobile and then winge that they can't afford to do anything else (like socialise).

Its also muppets that try and compare there souped up blandwagon to a 'real' sports-car, ie a car designed with speed and handling in mind. Not some shit shopping trolley designed for carrying brats and the weekly Tesco's shop.

It's on the same par as trying to mod my Tiv so that the boots bigger or that it uses less petrol etc.

Don't get me started on cruising. Yer, like theres something social about pissing other people of with your crap taste in music as you crawl around town in your blandwagon.

Rant over

Without over emphasising the point.

I agree with smeagols point. A friend of mine has a mk2 Astra that has the Calibra turbo lump in it. Granted its quick and looks nice but at the end of the day its still a crappy old Astra with a 14 year old body etc.

Likewise, if he was to add up the money spent he probably could have bought a Tiv, Marcos, Lotus etc. Or if you want to go one step further, he could have bought a kit car to give him the 'own work' reward instead

The same people that tune crap are the same people who also play their music loud.

I dont even had a radio in mine, the cruises I goto, is something like a group of likeminded people interested in the same thing meet up, park our cars....and go into a pub. We then drive home afterwards. If we piss people off when there are 10 of the same car parked together in a carpark then we're annoying.

238hp at the fly is not that at the wheels. It does wheelspin in the wet only.
