....That the latest round of restrictions for the blown Pro Mods has done the trick, lol!
Scott Cannon, 6.062 @ 240.25 IHRA legal against Troy Critchley's 6.014 @ 241.20 in "Outlaw" AMS trim. I guess taking away the two-step and losing a bit more rear-end hasn't had the desired effect!
Quickest nitrous car was Jim Halsey, 6.140 @ 229.51. Still very stout, and better than our European record, but still a way off the blower boys. Let's see what the Awesome Motorsports duo can come up with now they're packing Reher Morrison power. Early runs were promising, but Shannon's new GTO was setup for the 1/8th, not the 1/4. I wouldn't rule out 6.0's for the bottle cars by the end of the year, but there may be a few more 5 second club members by then.

I for one hope it does'nt end up an all blown methanol class as one of the main attractions for me has been the diversity you get.
Would be nice to see turbo small blocks and injected nitro introduced, although I wouldn't want to be the guy who had to work out all the weight breaks and restrictions to keep em all semi even.

Don´t take the Draglist for the truth, it´s not updated 100%.
Here is the promod legal records: www.ihra.com/statistics/records/pro.htm
The blown promod are still allowed to run with 20% over but can not have more than 4.30 in the rearend compared to 4.57 last year.

The nitrous boys, are working there way up in the 1/8 mile ADRL stuff, with Shannon jenkins and doug riesterer both running 3.99s at dragpalooza, not far off the mid 3.8s from the blown boys...
....i think we will see some promising runs from mike castellana's new mustang in the 1/4...hopefully some 6.0s...but i agree...there will be more 5s this year from blown cars.

Cheers for that
Bloody hell the fact that the quickest nitrous car is Quain Stott at number 40 is a bit of an eye opener for me, and that was 2003!

Like KP1 said, that list is slightly behind the times in places. The quickest nitrous pass of all time is still Mike Castellana's 6.101 @ 232 from the end of 2005.
As for the ADRL, I absolutely love the concept, but 1/8th mile racing just doesn't appeal to me. Sure it's good for parts and budgets, but I'd much rather see the full 1320. As the ADRL gains popularity though, quick 1/4 mile drag racing seems to be disappearing outside of the *HRA's, especially with the booming quick 8 scene in the southern regions of the States. In fact, unless it has wears DOT's and mufflers, the 1/4 mile scene is pretty much dead, which is a real shame in my book.

Keeping on the Pro Mod topic, looks like Robert Koper is replacing the Monte Carlo.......
www.vpracecars.com/userimages/Robert%20Koper.jpg
I wonder whether it'll be bottle or compressor fed?
Found it whilst browsing the Vanishing Point site. Looks like Jim Geese is churning out the baddest doorslammers on the planet right now...

Gotta love PSI Hemi Power in a 63 Vette Pro Mod! ^_^

Vanishing Point ?
I like the name, not only for Kowalski´s sake....8-))
A racer from germany bought one two years ago,
and had his first testruns at the NitrOlympX in 06,
due to lotsa new engine parts, a Dodge Avenger.
The chassis was a new concept for me,
rather a funny car with seat on the left than a traditional doorslammer.
www.totalperformance.de/content/de/2000_dodge_avenger/dragster/index.php?language=de§ion=15&subsection=1
As for 1/8 mile racing, I rather would see (and hear) them on the Quartermile,
1/8 is only OK for me if the track or runout area cannot handle very high speeds.
There are at least 2 more PMs currently being built in germany (including framework),
and I hope that they see the track in 07.
(Not counting the twin-turboed BBC 53 corvette that will -at first- run in SC when finished,
I wonder why it is outlawed to run 2 turbos in PM , maybe this will change someday ?)
Cheers,
Benni

John Russo went 5.991 @ 240.80 mph yesterday, 100% legal! Raymond Commiso also went 6.008 @ 241.70 mph! Looks like those Billes lumps are churning out some grunt again this year. From what the rest of the blown teams are running (aside from the Howard Moon tuned pair of Hernandez and Critchley), it looks like the rule changes worked to an extent, and that R&D has overcome them once more. Word has it that Al Billes made over 600 dyno pulls over the winter with his own, and various other engines (Russo, Comisso, Pontieri etc)!
Jim Halsey did card a 6.11 yesterday too though, so the bottle boys aren't totally done yet. I imagine he'll be in the 6.0's in a matter of a few laps.
As for the turbo cars, they are legal in NHRA/AMS competition this season, but there is a cubic inch limit of 526ci which has outlawed all but William Rojas and Troy Coughlin (surprise!). Matthew Brammer who co-ordinates the series has hinted that he and Annette Summer are working on getting her legal too, and then maybe Mike Moran will follow....

1st Round of Eliminations last night at Gainseville,
Josh Hernandez, 5.912 243.68. Troy Critchley, 5.924 245.81. Mike Janis, 5.964 237.67. Raymond Commisso, 5.986 242.63. Also, Mike Stawicki ran a 6.038 and lost! Word has it that all of those runs are IHRA legal too instead of AMS trim!!

Awesome runs! Next weekend is the IHRA:s first race in 2007 at San Antonio, TX. It will be interesting to follow that race since there every car has to be IHRA legal. The conditions are very good in Gainesville, just look at the Prostocks.
San Antonio will be very interesting to say the least, although there's talk being banded around already about an quick rule change. I can't see it happening though, not within a week! Especially as the new nitrous combos aren't proven yet either. It'd be nice to see some of those tune-ups filter over to the FIA Championship this year!
Agree totally about the Pro Stockers, 211 MPH!! It's interesting that the Fuel teams have said the conditions are too good for them though, everyone is struggling with traction and/or shake.
