Removing handbrake cable

Ok what have I missed, I can't get the handbrake cable to come of the hook on the caliper.Looks like the cable has to be very very loose to come of

I don't know how exactly the V8S handbrake is connected to the caliper, or I'd have a go.

Generally, though, you would have to back off the adjuster to give enough play in the cable to get the hook off the arm.

Sometimes you can get a mole grip on, to push the lever to the "on" position and then use pliers or another grip to twist the cable off - once you have one side off the other side should be easier because of the slack you've created in the cable.

Hi Pies,

Usually if you undo the bolts onto the calipers you can just about get enough play in the cable to pull it through and get it over the hook. If you have a large enough pair of grips you can also move the hook around as you slide it off (much easier with two people).

By far the best way, but more involved overall is to take the other end of the cable off at the handbrake end and pass it through.

The good thing is once you have one off the other is easy.

Fitting is the reverse of removal(not very nice).
