Some little f**ker keyed the Cerb. She's being resprayed on Monday. I pointed out to the insurers designated garage that the paints don't come straight out of the ici standard box for colour matching but they seemed to think that it was no problem at all.... Garretts of Canvey. Anyone know them? Should I be scared?

Don't be. I hav'nt had work done myself but know a few who have and they were pleased with the results.
But don't blame me if they do a sh!t job.

well they've already said that as my excess is high, if there were to be any other "damage" found, then of course they'd have to sort it out (being a responsible garage and all that)

If only. My tyres are more or less brand new.... but I don't pay for tyres anyway so I'm not that bothered

Michelins at that, as long as they are OE spec for the car. (Which allows up to 255/35/ZR18 for Cerbs). Sadly, only one set at a time.

Look in the dictionary for "insurers designated repairers"..."cheapest place they can get it fixed"

You have the right to choose the repairer, the insurance company will come out with some crap along the lines of "if it goes to our approved repairer, there wont be a delay, because we wont have to wait for a quote from them etc etc blab blah blah"

Yeah I know them. A friend of mine works there. He strips the cars down ready for painting! I'll tell him your cars in and to keep an eye on it for you!

To be honest they are all good blokes there.

Also is your car Imperial blue? If it is then it is a standard ICI colour because its a Ford colour.

Had my old 3 series repaired at Garretts 3 of 4 years ago after I bounced it off the central reservation on the A13. They did a excellent job including reconstruction of my M3 front bumper after my insurance company advised they would only stump up for a standard replacement. They invited me in to see the workshop and advised exactly what they were going to do and how they were going to do it. I was very pleased with the result.

That said, if you are able to persuade your insurers to allow you to use another repairer, check out Fullbridge Restoration in Maldon.

www.thecottagecompany.co.uk/fullbridgee-types/index.htm

Their workshop is frequently full of TVR's, Ferrari's, all manner of classics and, last time I was there (back end of last year), they had just finished restoring the Jordan that Fisichella won Interlagos with in 2003 and were photographing it on the forecourt. Their work is fantastic and well worth checking out.
