How's about we split the TVR forums? We could have one set for a group of positive people enthusiastic about the TVR brand past present and future. Perhaps it's for the well-informed, clever, witty, supportive people.

We could have the other set for the bunch of grumpy old gits who just want to say it's all shit.

Good idea?

Everyone could have two logins, depending on what mood they were in.

Trouble is this assumes that all the positive people are well-informed, clever, witty and supportive and all those who question what is going on with TVR.... are not well-informed, clever, witty or supportive and are just here to "say it's all shit".

This clearly is not the case. People react to the information and news about TVR, good or bad, in different ways... some people are constructive and some are not. Either way you should not stifle discussion!

Is this not the point of a forum??

Since few if any of us are involved (currently) with TVR there can only be speculation and wonder as to how this situation came to be.... and yes most have strong opinions as to how 'they think' TVR's problems could have been avoided. Maybe they are right... maybe they are wrong..?? who knows?? but there is nothing wrong with discussion, except when people start getting nasty with one another. rolleyes

You could always ask the moderators if there could be a 'Positive about TVR only' thread permanently at the top of the board and see how it goes ?!?!? Just an idea.

For an alternative split, how about :-

Those that think TVR are what they were, traditional hand made British sports cars.

Those that think TVR are a "brand", so don't care if the Ricardo engines come from x levels of outsourcing and are really made in China and the cars assembled in Outer mongolia ?

Interesting that you should rule yourself out of both.

*being positive now* I don't think it is all doom and gloom... If you look at the last two pages of "General TVR Stuff & Gossip" (notice gossip in the title) there are/were ~35 threads and going on title alone more than 20 of them had nothing to do with TVR's current situation... just people enquiring, enjoying and asking Qn's.

It's the same in the model specific areas.. In the Griff section I've had to go back at least 4 pages till I found a single message that mentions TVR's situation and even then it was a Qn about resale values I think?!?

If people log in expecting negative messages that's what they'll remember more... It's a bit like the news... How many good things were in the news this week... and how many bad things?? Which do you remember more of ??

I think to be fair guys you gotta give people a bit of slack.
The recent situation with TVR is probably the worst its been in, in atleast the last 25 years and possibly its entire existence so i think people are allowed to have a period of being a bit down-hearted about the whole TVR saga.
Also it seems TVR as a company has effectively left the building.

So yeah its cool to chat about how great our cars are and what we want to do with them but lets be honest if you want to talk about new TVR's or the next model coming out, its gonna be a pretty quiet ol conversation...

What he said, there are too many people on here that know so much, have the inside story, if I was runnning TVR this is what I would do and it would be a success, I know why TVR have failed, TVRs next model should be etc,etc etc and it's all bo**ox. Even when people ask a sensible question it gets turned into one of the above.
I can't be bothered with it.

Surely the point of these forums is everyone can share their opinion, ok at the moment people are a bit down on the whole TVR scene but it's only to be expected after recent events. Those who want to bury their heads in the sand and pretend it's all rosy can, others can worry about where their parts/warranties etc are coming from. I remember a few years ago not being able to get ball joints form my Griff due to TVR's unpaid bills so I'm sure events will effect all TVR owners as parts become harder to find.
