When I had my first Porsche (1979 928) I lived
near Uckfield and would take it to Billingshurst
for servicing etc. They seemed a good bunch and
I remember on one occasion that because I couldn't
get back home I had to wait around for 3 - 4hrs.
Anyway it was sort of lunch time and I went into
the pub next door for a half of shandy and within
10 mins a couple of emplyees came in and spent an
hour talking to me about Turbo's and a Testarossa
(this was in the late 80's) they had in for px.
Now that I'm about to rejoin the Porsche faithful,
I notice from the list of OPC'S that Billingshurst
no longer exists. Anyone know what happened?

I think at the time Malaya in Billingshurst were a Porsche Main Dealer and Service Centre.... They dropped their Porsche franchise at some point and became Marcedes dealers and they built houses on the site about 10 years ago....

I bought my first Porsche from Malaya back in 1983 - an '83 SC.

Had three more new Porsches from them until they lost the Sussex franchise to the one in Hove in 1991. Been with Lovetts at Swindon ever since.

Malaya were great. Tim Nicols ran it and was always friendly and helpful. I bought a new 944 turbo in 1987, and was going away for two weeks, so I asked the service manager to use it for the first 1000 miles, to run it in, and have it ready for me with the first service done when I got back.

Derek Bell and John Watson had their Porsches serviced there.
