Anyone have any idea on how much a new clutch for a 944 will be?

Plan on £500,00 should see you back on the road.

But shop around.

I'd have thought you'd be looking at a total of £700-£1,000 for parts + fitting - believe it's more than a couple of hours work on a 944! JZ Machtec quote more than a bag on their website ( www.jzmachtech.com/ ) & Porschembri circa £550+vat, depending on whether it's a Lux, S2 or Turbo.

IIRC it's an 8 hour labour job. Or at least it was on mine.I would budget for 650ish

I was quoted £550 + vat for my S2 - and this was just for the clutch replacement.

Ended up doing it myself and spent roughly the same amount on parts (clutch, flywheel, guide tube, rms, pilot bearing, pivot shaft & needle bearings, speed sensor [only cos I broke it!] slave cylinder, master cylinder, bolts & sundries) so I dread to think what this would have been if it was in at a garage charging an hourly rate yikes

On the downside the car was off the road for longer than it would have been in the garage. I suppose it depends on personal circumstances though - I would rather spend on new parts than someone elses time - am I tight?

Phone Northways (in Reading) for a quote.

I'm sure mine came in at about £700-800, maybe cheaper.

Can have many problems on turbo's to the extent that my specialist will not quote these days for a "fixed" price on doing clutch replacement. On my S2 I also required slave cylinder master cylinder overhaul, new flexi hose, rear engine seals and clutch fork. Can't remember the total but it was painful.

I had mine replaced four months ago and the total price was £771 fitted. Eight hours to do the job

Just had a new clutch on a 1991 S2, fitted at a local indi.....£650. Dont pick it up till the weekend so I dont know if anything else was done but when mine broke I asked about and £600ish seemed to be the going rate.
