Squeaky Windscreen & Replacement Windscreens
Discussion
Has anyone had an annoying squeaky noise from the dash near the windscreen?
One post mentioned it recently, I think. Could it be one of the seals used on a replacement screen sometime?
Has anyone had any problems getting a replacement windscreen fitted to their satisfaction? I picked up a bad stone chip and need to get it fixed.

A fairly common problem I'm afraid, lots of tips in this thread www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?t=362300&f=48&h=0
Some are temporary, some more permanent.
You need to establish the track record of the fitter you intend using carefully.
Make sure you use the Teflon tape and the latest anti squeak kit,(I've not actually seen the kit, but it was fitted to the rear screen of my GT3 and silenced it totally)
Good luvk.

hi Chris
I've had new windscreens in a 996 and a 997...
OPC wilmslow did the 996 and it creaked/and 'whispered' wind noise like mad...took it straight back where luckily their windscreen guy (they outsource windscreens) was still there....they refitted (same new seal)
They did resolve it about 90% but twas never right.....
Then i had a 997S screen replaced by Wilmslow...lot better this time, albeit on a 997 the screen sits into the recess and there is no covering seal as such....they left glue on the black recess...
Then on the way back from the Leipzig factory last year i was hit with a massive boulder and had to have this new screen replaced. Porsche Assist (FRANCE central number) where USELESS....so had it done by AUTOGLASS on arrival in DOVER....PERFECT !! aboslutely faultless....but i did notice when signing their invoice the bill to the insureance was nearly £1100.00 !!
