S1 Thoughts..

Duplicated in general gassing, but posted here to try and catch specialists....

Good chance there's one of these coming up for sale very very soon near me.
It's been completely re-done, new roof bits and everything.
Not much on the TVR sectrion in here by the looks of things.....
All i can find on the web is mentioning a capri 2.8 v6.good start i think.......

Any advice on what to look out for? Problem areas?
Fuel consumption ideas - don't want to get rid of my diesel daily driver only to find out the TVR costs a packet on my 175mile a week commutes. Would i be better advised to keep the S1 as a weekend fun car?

Assuming reasonable condition and not stupid mileage, price ideas for a red S1, with S2 bonnet and S3 wheels (according to vendor)?

Living in Manchester and commuting daily, I would suggest you keep the "diesel daily driver" and enjoy the S1 at weekends, as I would imagine your fuel bill to at least double if using the TVR all the time, even without knowing actual figures.Also bear in mind that 175miles per week is around 9100 miles per year ( and thats before you do any enjoyable weekend driving),that means you would stuggle to get a low premium on a classic car limited mileage policy,I think mines limited to 4 or 5000 miles but I only pay about £110 fully comp for myself and a named driver ie my wife.Limiting your mileage could make the TVR a more affordable proposition as a 2nd car and allow you to have the best of both worlds.Give me a shout if you buy it, it would be nice to meet up with a few locals.
Thats only my opinion though, Im sure there are people who commute daily in their TVR and will give you a different view
