I can see why the second one is "cheap"

Say £95k new, now selling for £38k say = £60k depreciation in 7 years = £8,500 a year or £715 a month. Pretty average, dare I say actually quite good, for that sort of car.

A lot of car for the money though, makes me wonder if a 997 Turbo is worth another £62k or the price of a brand new 997 C2S

Why can you see the 2nd car is cheap? It has a perfect spec and hideous 959 stylee interior!

There is something surprisingly appropriate about that interior - 959 does spring to mind. Question is, is it authentic? How could you order it like that in 2000 - special custom order from the factory for early cars, or was it done "afterwards" (shock horror - can see why would put some off)? As long as its original, why not? Was this a special early car interior?

You can order any colour to sample from the factory........................... if your pockets are deep enough.

Interesting, a turbo for boxster money.
I much prefer the 2nd one actually, the manual gearbox and much nicer colour, lower mileage and the interior, well at least there is no wood in it, for the price I could maybe live with that

Can't really see clearly, but I think it also has the wood kit on the door and hand brakes handles??

Must say though I quite like the contrast! (of the leather, wood should never be in a 911 Turbo!)

I suppose it may be, too dark to see. At least it's not got a visible woodgrain, I do wonder why there is no dashboard photo though..

Ah yes! Didn't spot the walnut wood. Was wondering why there was no dashboard photo. I fear the stereo/aircon surround looks especially nasty with that red. Ouch. Would it cost much to put a non-wood interior in?

I noticed the first ad dosnt say if it is a UK car, so it might be a C16 import.

First one high miles for a TT, very early and tip but reckon that is fair.

That second one has been for sale for a long time - that is a refreshed ad with the hideous large wood pack (all over dash + handbrake/gear levers + door bits) hidden as best possible and not mentioned in the ad.

I guess £2k for a professional replacement of leather on seat panels and another £2k to take interior apart and replace wood with ali or leather bits. To me that car is still £4-5k over-priced, esp. when compared to the first one.

Sad thing is someone actually spent mega-dosh with Tequipment options making the interior that hideous, hope the current owner (assuming not original) got a massive discount off market rate.

There's so many 996tt's on the market it must be a nightmare to shift one, very small market for s/h turbo's and 996's flood the market with thousands more made than the equiv 993,hence the prices of non turbo 996.I Wouldn't be suprised if you could pick up a 996tt from £30,000 in the next 12 month's too much supply not enough demand!

Lots of demand actually for good cars..unfortunately 90% of the cars out there that look cheap are crap..as i found when i was buying..some of the cars i have seen for sale at cheapish prices are untouchable and a virtual guaranteed liability.of course some tt's will be 30k next year...lhd,written off and repaired with 600k km's on the clock and bright pink leather..probably be £10k that car.

I agree. I was looking for a 996TT last summer and viewed a number of cars. As KayC points out there are some bad examples out there however, based on my experience a handful were very poor, some needed a little rectification work for stone chips etc but you would expect that on a used car. A couple of the very good examples I viewed have only just sold. As part of my research, I spoke to both OPC buyers and Indie specialists. All of whom thought that 996 TT prices ( I was discussing a 2003/52, 30K miles FPSH Black/Black car) would continue to fall by appox 15K over the next 2 years(from last September). The car I was looking at booked at £45K, I would guess it would book at £35k ish in Sept 07 providing the mileage was not excessive and the condition was good.

This all sounds good, i know where my money will be going if i can pick up a nice TT for the price of a C4S. I know that OPC (Nottingham i think) has one at £49k so i may be able to find a 2001/02 at £40K over the next few weeks.

C16 is the same car in the OPC showrooms, worth exactly the same because it's also a UK car

That interior really is vile.

However. If one wanted the driving experience one could always overlook it...

You say the car 'booked' at ..i presume that is the dealer bid..that bears very little relationship with the opc /indie offer as spreads are ridiculosly wide. Cheapest tt at the opc's is 52k for an 01 car!Having said that they would probably only pay 35k for that car if you were selling. As i have said before the wide spreads make these cars very hard to value...The depreciation on these cars will slow down on top cars as they get older..ive lost 5k per year for the last 2 years on mine and i find it unlikely that its depreciation will accelarate over the next 2 years..i could be wrong though.

Hay Silver,

I wouldn't say you post a lot but every time I read one of your posts it seems to be about people accepting that C16 cars are the same as a OPC car. soapbox Is your car a C16 by any chance?

You would have thought people may have remembered by now.....
