Calais to the ring: Best route?

Has anyone got any tips of which roads are must dos and which should be avoided? We are looking to do the journey in a day and want to mix some unlimited autobahn runs with good windy 'A' roads. Also any tips on where to stay near the ring would be appreciated.
This has come up a few times before.
The best site I know for this is
www.nurburgring.org.uk/index.html
A popular route would be Calais, Dunkirk,
Brugge, Brussels, Liege, Eupen, Monschau,
Blankenheim.
I would strongly recommend avoiding the Eupen
to Monschau road. My brakes were an MOT failure
after I'd been on that road.
AFAIK there aren't any unlimited bits of good autobahn
nearby. Aachen-Koln is unlimited, but it
is mostly two lanes each way, so getting past 120 mph
is a bit unlikely.
There is a small piece of four lanes each way
just west of Koln. Nice at 7am on a Sunday
morning for a Vmax run.

we stayed there last year, great hotel, great owner, just next to the ring.
Ben Lovejoys site is the only one you need. Watch out for the Belgian speed camera sting!
