Door Catches

Hello all.

Need some advice about the catches on our Mini (Charlie)
Yesterday when I was washing him I found a very small bit of rust near the silver catch which the door locks on to.

All it needs is the catch taking off and a quick rub down but I'm reluctant to remove the two torx screws incase they diont go into a captive nut.

Has any other members had to take these catches off?

Are they screwed into captive nuts or will I have to take the panel off in the back to catch a nut???

If its the chrome sticker on the 'b' pillar which is held on with T40 torx bolts then yes its Ok to remove them.

You will need to spend a little time re aligning it though.

Best method is to get a black felt tip pen and go around the edge before you remove it so that you have an outline left of where the sticker was-this should mean it goes back to where it was and will only need a tweak if that.

Yep thats the one...on the B pillar.

I was so worried that I would hear a "clink" when removing them!
