How come the yellow 993 TT with GT2 bits been up for sale for soooooo damn long?

I mean it's a bit of b*stard child and doesn't appeal to the purist but surely its still a desirable slice of pork?

Or am i missing something?

That car makes this one seem like an absolute steal: www.dkeng.co.uk/stock_list_detailed.php?l=1&t=1&i=215

It took ages for Shirleys to shift it a couple of years ago (must have been in their showroom for 12 months easily) It also appeared in a 911 and Porsche World "Tried and tested" feature IIRC

I think the colour is the real issue. It's a real Marmite job SY.
I think the vast majority of 993 Turbo owners prefer the slighty more subtle (some would say boring) hues like silver, black, arena, or the host of easy on the eye met blues that are available.

If someone is looking for a SY 993 TT though, this would have to be the one, factory fit GT2 rear wing and front splitters, 430 upgrade kit 12,000 miles and £6K less than the Turbo S (that comes with free lifetime membership to your local chiropractic clinic allegedly

The fact that the Turbo S' have now dropped to the level this car is advertised at, would seem to indicate they're not particularly well regarded when compared with a "standard" 408hp model.

It'll be interesting to see if 996 X50 aerokit equipped cars suffer the same fate in years to come ?

Could it not be said though Slippy, that with current legislation on the horizon, with the exception of the rarest of models, that the prices of all sports cars could drop when the associated costs of running them becomes significantly higher?

I think this yellow car looks stunning.
Havent seen it in the flesh but imagine it looks great.
I am as bad as the next person with my safe colour-black-but that yellow car looks amazing.
Too many safe colours in this country, bring back the red's and white's of the 80's !
Soon someone will buy this and we will all be telling him what a stunning car he has got.
We're a fickle lot us Porsche owners.

Yellow looks great in pics, but you've got to be pretty thick-skinned to drive a yellow Porsche with a body-kit anywhere other than on track.

I dont think its anything to do with the colour imo..Its the fact that probably one of Porsches finest looking cars in standard form(993tt)has been made to look like a kit car with that ridiculous body kit and horrible wheelseek

Mine looked like that (bar wheels) till last Autumn, I really like the GT2 look

Don't think you have to be thick skinned to drive it on the road, I got 99% positive reactions from other drivers sonar

Think calling a GT2 kit 'ridiculous' is, erm, a bit ridiculous.

Cheers,

MOD.

I like it, just a small market for SY 993tt

Re: the ebay comment - they outbid me on Damon Hill's 993tt, phoned them up to ask them about it and found out that they'd previously sold it a few years ago and stock was thin on the ground at that time.

Also, I bought my first Porsche from Dom and Richard @ Harbour cars 3 years ago, their prices are a tad optimistic but the cars are well presented. Both of them are real gents if there's ever a problem with the car - sorted out my buzzing fuel pump 3 months after I bought the car.

No problems recommending them or buying from them again.

Kayc hit the nail on the head. Why mess with perfection? The 'standard' Turbo S would be where my hard earned would go.

One of our members used to own this car and absolutely cherished it. I heard that a subsequent owner was less than meticulous on servicing and that it needed a big one (PLUGS ETC). Also the last time I saw it was after someone had crashed into the back of it...

That might explain why it hasn't been snapped up ...
