Why are Automatic Mini's always Minters...
Discussion
Can't contain glee this morning...
Family became proud owners of 1978-S reg Russett Brown Mini 1000 Auto. It's done 34K from new - fully receipted with two owners and the original bill of sale - It is like a timewarp car and the whole interior is 70's kitsch, but absolutely mint.
I don't think I've seen a Mini with less rust on it in the last 5 years. Is the anti-corrosive properties of Russett brown paint I wonder? Or the fact that its been garaged all its life?
Purists - please stop reading at this point.... I can feel a few coming along..
The 1000cc Auto unit and subby is coming out - 34K from new - Anybody intrested in Auto's on here?
In its place is going a 1275cc Motor + Worked head + MG Metro CAM + Manual Box - HIF44 on Modded MG inlet - LCB - Twin box RC40. Its all sat waiting in the garage!!
Set of S brakes and some small 10" Alloys or reverse rims (Anybody willing to part with a set?) and my mum has a total Q-car. Even leaving the badging on the back. Roll on Summer project.
Does anybody else have a "hot" brown Mini?
Sounds a good plan. Given the 850 and thou auto's haven't got enough power to pull your foreskin back I'd be changing it myself, don't really see a problem to the purists at the end of the day it is never going to be a rare/desirable machine, however with the mg metro lump it will be nice!
