Lots of low end Torque I guess, but it'll run out of top end speed if it's only got a 5 cog box...

I don't think that the price is miles out if you look at the prices on classified. Just make sure that genuinely 400 or it won't be especially quick

Edited to read as I meant to say. That was be careful that the engine is giving output claimed. Not a problem if you buy a cheaper car and plan to invest in the engine but what I was implying was that HP get's exagerated in ads and these cars are still 1000kg and need decent power to get the driving thrill they should deliver.

in comparison to nearly everything on the road tho, surely less than 1000kg and 350-450 horses is a good performance/cost/reliability balance? If decent build components have been used it may be cost effective to increase it? With the option of the rain cobver/soft top at £2k i am sorely tempted by this. Head is saying get a normal sportscar (Noble), heart is say "JUST LOOK AT IT" Always loved these, but i know they are a bit Marmite (either love it or hate it kinda car). Asked for chasis number to get factory to run a check on it. I was the 4th caller to day apparently.

Well if it is indeed a 7.1L, it would easily have 400bhp. And that would be a nice driveable 400hbp too.

I think extra cubes will give a little bit more torque unless something is done to the standard heads.

a 380-400bhp SBC canam will do around 11.9 quarter mile and go on to 190+mph if the gearing allows.... what else can match that for the cash, certainly not a noble.

but an M400 is going to cost 42k upwards to buy. I dont think i could afford the running costs, and i am not hands on enough to sort out minor issues i think would surface.

I disagree with 350/400bhp meaning the car will be slow. there was a guy a couple of years ago living near hinkley who had a sport with a 350bhp in it. still did 0-60 4.5 seconds and 180mph. Is that not pretty quick?

I agree with Mr. Hodge, ask Paul (Shithotfast), I believe I am correct in saying that Paul has a standard ZZ4 motor in his Syder and it is plenty fast and I can testify to that as he kindly took me for a few laps of Hullavington last year.
It is fairly difficult (as a passenger) to tell a 400bhp car from a 500bhp and once you are at these kind of levels it is only really apparent when being timed one against another even as a driver. Whatever power level you have, you will get used to it and think that you could do with some more and if this is not the case, maybe an Ultima is not the car for you?

i agree ,our can-am runs between 400 and 420 bhp and the best 1/4 mile time is 11.6 and 0-100mph in 7 seconds ....thats pretty quick in my book and its very usable on the road .i have to admit its very cheap not good if you think what we spend to build these cars its upset me thats for sure !!!!!! simon

@ deadscoob, you may choose a Noble over an Ultima Can Am if you couldn't find a garage to store the car in, and needed more of an everyday tool over a sunny day toy thats my problem. Also scared of running costs and the width of the cars, don't think it would fit down my local street to my home. Couldn't see the Cam Am (with optional fabric roof obviously) lasting too long outside my house in all weathers, thought the GTR's were supposed to be leaky, bet the Can Am would be no better. Ohh for a garage

This is only a small problem (more of a pain in the arse really) and only presents itself when opening the doors in the rain / when the car is wet to get in or out, they do not otherwise inherently suffer water ingress.
