I really like the look of this, but I doubt the other half will allow me to spend my bonus on this instead of the house.

At 13 grand it's way overpriced IMHO - 27k in 16 years is less than 2k a year so I'd be worried about what could be wrong due to lack of use. Whilst the pre-cat Griffs are nice I really can't see why this one is so expensive just because it once graced the stand at the motorshow.

Why the rolleyes? If you don't agree with me then fair enough! Am I not entitled to have an opinion of my own?

I bought mine having covered only 80 miles in the previous year - had loads of problems with gaskets and seals because of so little use.
IMHO these cars are better off it they are driven regularly. Thats my opinion based on my experience and what various people/mechanics have told me. It's not to say there is anything wrong just that I'd be worried about what could be wrong.

Agreed... Cars (TVRs in particular) don't like being tucked away in garages.
One of the biggest causes of problems i've stumbled upon is lack of use.
Oil tends to go with gravity and drain away from engine parts, Rubber Bushes and seals etc go brittle and crack. You can have issues with brakes where they have 'bound' to disks etc. to mention just a few.

Not saying a well cherished low mileage car will definitely cause problems but i would be concerned buying a car that has spent much of its recent years stationary.

Same old same old; I don't agree but just can't be bothered arguing the toss over this again. :rolleys: was shorthand for "here we go again ...". Nothing personal.

I agree, My V8S typically did 1K to 2K miles in the 5 years before I bought it.

One year later I was renewing sump joint, rocker cover gaskets, timing chest joint etc, etc. It was oil loss rather than oil consumption that altered the level on the dipstick.

It might have been OK for the odd run on a fine Sunday, but as soon as I did some serious distance and got the engine good and hot the leaks/weeps started to appear.

Without a doubt, any machine benefits from regular use and taking through the 'duty cycle'.
All IMHO of course. Nick

I've just been shafted with my bonus, but I usually book the summer holiday with it, so this year it's NORTHUMBERLAND (Nice Enough but I fancied the alps)

Knowing the car and its owner........ I would say the car and mechanics are in good health.

The car at present is owned by a PH who has had few more years experience of Tivs then most.

Its a nice car which I seriously considered last year, I just could not bear to be departed from my 4.3 though

Cars with an interesting history do tend to fetch a premium, well worth it in my opinion.Fed up of hearing all this nonsense that all low mileage cars are trouble,in some cases maybe but not all, every car needs to be judged on its own merits.

Unfortunately TVRs with an interesting history don't make a premium - because there's far too many of them - ex-show cars, roadtest cars, brochure cars, etc.
