Jag Parts Question
Discussion
I am looking at getting this car for a "weekend" driver. I can pick it up for around $7,500. I noticed it had a cracked headlight and a small bit of tear in the headliner. First, what are your opinions of this, and the best place to get parts in the US? I have been watching this car for some time now. I don't know what it is, but it just nags at me to buy it:

Hey Jim, I have know personal knowlegde of the best place to get Jaguar parts but I stumbled upon this website and thought you might take a look. They sell new, reman and used parts and are not too far away from you, just outside of Atlanta.
www.coventrywest.com/index.htm
Also Peretti Jaguar of Baton Rouge and New Orleans are supposed to be good dealerships.
About the headliner, is it just the fabric that is torn or is it the backing and everything?
If it is just the fabric a friend of mine found some thumb tack like devices for holding up headliners at Wal-Mart, I'm using them in my Land Rover
I will try to track down the website for the company.

Thanks Derric. Has your tech job given you any knowledge of the '95 XJS?
Here is a link to some sagging headliner devices if it will help, but look for them at Wal-Mart or Auto parts Stores as the ones on this site are God awful expensive.

As far as the XJS goes I know very little, they didn't train us back that far at PACE.
If you find any Jag dealerships around that can give me an old fashioned apprenticeship let me know, it didn't work out at Colorado Springs so I'm looking for work..
I'd like to stay here though, so I guess I'll try Ford dealerships, luckily I have Ford training as well.

Thanks. Sorry things didn't work out. You are right, Paretti Jaguar/Land Rover here in BR are well reputed dealers, I will check with their service dept.
Jimbeaux - parts shouldn't be a problem for the car - they are still well supported.
The headliner replacement is going to be a screen out & retrim job but any trimmer can do it.
As Trooper2 says, Coventry West seem to be a very good supplier of spares, prices seem good and the staff are knowledgeable.
If you want to know specifics about XJS I worked on the program for a while and know the cars very well.

I have found parts/service prices locally to be pretty good after checking. The XJS, as I understand it, (1995) has the 4.0l XJI6(sp?)engine. This is said to be an improvement over the 1991-94 4.0L one. Thoughts? Assuming the service was kept up, what should one check out before buying this? Bear in mind, I would not use this as a primary driver.....not sure if I could trust it.

The AJ16 engine is way better than any Jag V8 for reliability.
I really wouldn't worry about it.
The 95.25 MY cars really have the best of everything.
My advice would be to have the car chcked for collision damage & corrosion, if it looks good and has been properly maintained then it'll be god buy.
