.............WOW

Jesus that car is special! Perfectly responsive in everyway and the power delivery is superb. The sound from the supercharger makes for one very large grin but the sounds from the exhaust is even better.

Will have to do some serious haggling with the MRS this evening

Oh its soooo good to hear someone pushing me in the right direction. I know I can afford an S without any real problem but the GP would really push me. I know that as petrol heads we are duty doubt to push the limits and get the best we can put its scary to know that I will be poor for a while after this purchase.

ooooooooooooo but its sooooooo good. Its worth it for the noise let along the looks and abilities of the vehicle

i know what you mean i could plum for a GP but it would leave me a penniles bum for years while i paid it off but insted of getting the best 1st im going for a bog standrad S with not many toys as ive got a totaly bog standard cooper atm and after 3 1/2 years its still a riot to drive (i dont get bored easily) but whats scary looking on the classifieds a GP is only a bit more than a similar 06 plate works and will hold its value better so if you go for a face lift s works get an older one 05 plae as thats when they bought out the LSD on them (a must as its standard on the GP)

was the LSD standard on a cooper S or an option? I bet they are not that common on 05,55,06 plate cooper S's

Well IF i choose to go for a standard S over the GP I would certainly wait for the spec I am after which would idealy include (but not reqired):

LSD
Sat Nav
Hi Fi upgrade
Auto Air Con
Bluetooth phone prep
Heated seats

You could spec a new Cooper S with all that for less than the price of the GP.

Never driven a GP but have driven old style supercharged S Vs latest turbo S. The turbo is better in my view, much much better engine and better built than the previous version. Give it a look if you dont go GP route... That said if you really want the GP then an S isnt going to do...

thumbup Go for the GP, drive a Cooper S first and then jump into a GP, no comparison what so ever! Once driven forever smitten! A future classic in the making with resale values certain to stay very very high.

G.P.

LSD, sorted.
Don`t worry about the Sat Nav in a GP, if you must have it, buy a TomTom.
If you need a Hi Fi upgrade, put something decent in it like an Alpine/Kenwood system.
Air Con is standard, happy days.
Buy a Bluetooth hands free ear thingy.
Bollox to heated seats, wait till you sit your ar5e on those lovely Recaros!

What a car!! bow

I know I know. HAHA. I visited the car again today and I am really taken by it. I think that I shall have to wait for another 12 months (gutted) to save up a little more but it will be worth the wait. I plan on keeping this car for a long long time when I finally get hold of one

12 Months time you will still be paying the same money as today give or take a few quid. Obviously cheaper examples will be available, but they may be high mileage, multiple owners and thrashed, eg Clio Williams, 5 GT Turbo, any Cosworth, Delta Integrale ect, ect. I appreciate they are holding good money at the mo and aren`t cheap, but the sooner you secure one the better.
I guarantee you won`t be in a rush to sell it, awesome machine!! bounce

I bought one today. I had a Cooper S when they first came out and it was a great car, even thoguht the build quality was a little rough. The later cars and the GP I have purchased are great....Pick up Friday

It will be a great stop gap between my 996 GT3RS I have sold, and when my new 997 GT3RS turns up next year. Looking forward to using the GP on track. Will have to get rid of those run flat tyres though....
