The dealer has had the car for exactly one week and all the recall work is done. Namely:

* Replaced front cross member which steering rack connects to (?) - showed signs of cracking
* Welded strengthening plates to front & rear
* Geometry check
* Clean and polish :-)

Can't get down to pick it up before Saturday, so will report if I can see anything that's been done.

Picked the Viper up yesterday and all is well. New plates welded as per recall notice and a front cross member replaced due to slight cracking. Car came back in perfect condition.

Motorway-Sports are happy to look at other members cars for the recall work. Now they've done one - I guess the next one will be quicker!

If you're interested, call David or Peter in the Service Dept. on 01227 732233 or email sales@motorway-sports.co.uk. The dealer is just outside Caterbury, Kent.

Now its safe to go on track

Venom, bolts snapped? The small bolts to the splicer joints on the drive shafts / diff are thread-locked in, is this what broke? At least your dealer is removing the diff (as they correctly should per recall work) the dealer SK went to with 2 of his (the done in a day boys) said they've done 6+ recalls...which just envolved a rear visual inspection!! Yikes, I won't be going there! The only UK dealer that impressed me when I phoned around, was the Motorway cars one (01227 732233). It's them, or I'm trying to get the parts from the US to do it myself.

can I send 'The Battleship' to you N GTS! think you know a tad more than the dealerships

That's unlucky Tom, but at least they are doing the job
and will hopefully crack it, no pun intended, thought a one day turn around was a little bit suspect to say the least, even Steve is doubting what 'work' has been carried out.

But you can,t do a rear visual without taking out the diff!!!!!No way can this work be done in a day!To re set up the traking after the work is done takes 1/2 a day!The bolt that snapped was the main suspention bolt!Yikes!when they were gaining access to fit the new rear diff braket.....NEW FLASH.....car gone for another week as yesterday when they re tracked the whole car the non disturbed rear suspension(which was apparently well out along with the front suspension settings)that blot snapped also(and my STOPTECHs are incorrect when i unpacked them today....!!!!Bl**dy Great!

Not sure what is happening with this recall work but as I understand it late cars post early 99 only need the front steering done not he rear diff mod.

So on Steve's car it could be done in a day as its a late 99 needing only front work as was mine.

97 onwards GTS need the full kit and mods to the rear suspension.

Therefore some dealers are finding the job easy some are saying its a bastard = bracket on front easy, diff out hard.

it was his GTS-R that took 1 day, and its a 1998 !, according to what I've seen the dealerships get paid to a maximum of 22 hours for front/back and 9 hours for a front only

Great relief...for me...I can buy the recall kit parts from the top USA dealership at cost price and sort it all myself.

Venom, I wish there were words I could type or say to make you feel better. Stoptechs came sent / boxed wrong? Oh NO...the arrival of them should have brought Viper cheer! Hey, Venom, check the dealership aint calling your bluff, they're in love with your car and hanging onto to it just a few more days to drool!

No as its locked up in a spare workshop on trickle charge and the snapped bolts are in the ash tray!!!!!Full credit to my team they are doing all they can,but until the parts arrive from USA nowt they can do.Starting to wonder if it will be ready for Avon park!(They had to drop suspension out to access and fit braket at back of car more easily,hence need to re track,which it turns out that all the cambers/toe in &out are way out so its done me a favour really and i had always felt they car was odd when pushed hard through turns so i hope to have a craking car back soon,with service/ducking kit and brakes all fitted when its serviced!Just waiting on the NOS still.
