I have a theory about mobile phone numbers. They are the easiest thing in the world to change and so were you a slipery old eel you could nip in and out of different numbers or "hide" behind "premium" numbers without causing any ripples in the pond.
I`m proud of the fact I`ve got an 0831 number (now 07831) it means I`ve been around for a while and I`m not likely to be doing a runner in the near future. I feel the same about the old 0836 (now 07836) numbers and always feel others with similar long standing numbers are pillars of the community

Most suppliers have options to give away sims for free..

It's the luck of draw as to what numbers you get. Farmer's boy lucked out..
Farmer..
I'd give him a few quid to get some lucky dips on the lotto this Saturday too if I was you!

Good Idea however that would be illegal
but he could maybe choose a number or two

I don't see the numbers having a value.
There are enough number prefixes out there that if anyone really wanted a 911 type number the networks would sort it out (although probably requiring a fee if a low user).

Handy for guys in the motor-trade dealing in Porsche, as these 993 996 numbers and so on are easy to remember. Frankly it's all a bit cringeworthy if you have one of these as your private number. "Hoi - Jules here in the Porsch-e, call me back on 077 997 993 - see ya layder then. Boiii..."

Handy for guys in the motor-trade dealing in Porsche,Agreed, but if they wanted this type of number, they'd have already contacted the network and got one. This can be done in a few minutes. With so many number prefixes there would be hundreds of 911 type numbers available so I don't see any one number having any significant value (unless of course you're swiping your competitions number!).
BTW. Maybe worth selling the 996/997/998 together. Although as Henry mentioned earlier most decent motor traders have had the same mobile number for years.

Both Reading and Hatfield OPCs have numbers ending in 911.
Not expecting to retire on the proceeds !!
£20 is a lot of pocket money
£200 is on the way to a Mac Book (whatever that does)
£2000 I'll pack up farming and blag simms for a living
all ye doom mongers
on the subject of un-cool I don't see any lack of desire for 911 number plates ...At least you don't have to give your phone number to everybody you meet on the road !!!
We'll see, "it takes all sorts"
