Ive always wondered when you see any fancy cars its usually in the summer, in the dry and usually with the owner either in it or nearby. Whats it like for all you Ferrari ,lambo owners ect .You couldnt leave these specialist sportscars anywhere do you have another car which is more practical, safer, securer and slightly more toned down? You can get away with most fancy saloons , coupes and small roadsters as they wont really attract much attention but if some neds see a 360 alone theyd probably key it.

I leave my 3 'target cars' everywhere....just cos I got bored with worrying about it. I never used to leave them anywhere for fear of damage, but decided after a while it was just stupid.....

That said, I do own 'The Mighty Ax', a G-reg Citroen AX of 33bhp, 3 wheel trims and crap everything else! This tend to go with me to work a fair bit, and anywhere I really dont want to take something decent (say the cinema)

You know, I think this partly depends on where you live. It'd be difficult to leave it down a central London backstreet, but in my neck of the woods, it seems more civilised. Like Night, I used to worry about leaving it, but while I'm careful about location, I don't stress over it. Park it where you can, lock it and do what you came for. I've done the supermarket shop in a Ferrari (and a light one in a Caterham) and use the 911 as an everyday car, leaving it at railway stations etc. So far no problems (touch wood). In fact I've had more problems with light scratches etc. at car shows, where you might expect people to take more care. If someone keys it then it'll just need to be fixed; I've seen everyday cars like Corsas and Vectras with key scratches, so this isn't the preserve of exotica per se.

Sorry for lurking and posting on the Ferrari/Lambo board, but I couldn't resist answering this one.

Last year, I was completely paranoid about my Esprit.

This year, I sold my house, and now live in an apartment. No garage. I park the Esprit out in the lot under a fitted car cover.

Like Nightmare, I just got tired of freaking out about it. So I just don't let myself worry too much. I drive it alot more now..daily in the sun. But in the rain, I bought a new Hyundai Elantra. I wanted a parctical car that I didn't care if it got roughed up. I needed a car to lug my hockey equipment in...didn't want something overly nice. Just a big enough back seat for my hockey bag, and a manual tranny so the fiance can work up to driving the Esprit.

Hope that helps...

I have a sensible car too, a V6 Cavalier Auto. It's practical, relaxing and fastish too. Also have a bike for when I want to really go quickly.
When I do take the Ferrari out into town, I find it's not a problem if you leave it in a multi-storey, or somewhere where there's no passing yobbery. The main problem as I percieve it is that of accidental damage from people opening doors carelessly etc.

Had Dino 308 GT4 till today and L200 Double cab for boring runs and bad weather. Having a Spyder 550 replica being built professionally but probably won't keep it and will buy something else soon either classic or more recent sports car for fun.

I'm lucky cos I've a garage and courtyard at home and warehouses at work for storing anything not in use.
