Tyre choice for 3.0 SE Z4 coupe?
Discussion
I want to change my run flats on my Z4 3.0 SE coupe,as I can't stand the lousy ride quality anymore. I know some people have tried Michelin Pilot Sport 2's, but I've had scary experiences with them in the wet. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Goodyear Eagle F1's? Toyo R888's? Pirelli's?
Thanks,
William

The trouble with recommending tyres is that it very much depends on the wheel size/car/driver combination and, as such, there is no definitive answer. However, I'll contradict myself and having gone through the whole process on my previous car (five sets of tyres later) by far the best were the GSD-3s - Goodyears in other words. Slightly softer sidewalls but plenty of wet weather grip without compromising dry road behaviour.
Either way, by ditching the RFTs you'll notice a marked improvement.

I switched to Goodyear F1's on my 3.0..... soooooo much better in terms of ride quality and grip, especially in the wet. Remember the Z4 was never designed from the ground up for RFT's, it was a last minuted decision to fit them hence the harsh ride.
Just do it, half the price and twice the grip
