Hi All,

Been chatting to my mate at work today about fitting a Stack display in the Ultima. He's the ex works rally driver for MG and he still runs the works car. On his ZR he has a Maretti Marelli? (definately spelt wrong) dash display connected via a CAN Bus network to his ECU. All the engine signals (and wheel speed and Fuel Levels etc) are wired directly to the ECU then transmitted to the display via a single cable. I think Stack also do a similar system but need to ask them tomorrow...

I'm going to use an LS7, and I was planning to use my Emerald ECU. Prob going to change this now for an ECU with CAN Bus (cant remember what he uses at the moment..)

Questions:
Has anyone ever tried out a similar system?
Are there any problems getting Stack like systems through SVA?

The system I was looking at has an odometer, spedo etc and on screen warnings. With such systems do you also need the oil and ignition warning lights?

As the fuel gauge is also sent through the ECU, his system calculates how many more miles / minutes you have left before you run out of fuel! I like that! Their new system uses a touch screen display!

Any thoughts / sugestions / experience would be useful!

Cheers, Mart

No experience with CAN and don’t remember anyone else doing it but someone did a complete onboard computer system with everything on a single screen.

The Stack has no SVA issues but such a system must include the odometer as well as speed.
I have included oil and ignition lights but they don’t have to be there and the dash can tell you what’s happening.
The Stack does not do fuel calcs unless it’s been added in latest models. It does allow you to map the fuel levels in the tank so that it understands the tank shape to give correct fuel readings.

I don't think you can do it will a Stack
Using the Can conector means your unit will read from the ECU and not its own sensors.
The stack display does not work like this.
I know you can do it with a Aim and Motec dash

I think I still get a discount if you wanted to order one.

They look great Pete. Have you one of these in your car? Was also looking at the MM Falcon display:

My mate uses this with an EFI ECU:

Would need to use the Euro-6 ECU for an LS7. Spoke to them today and they have used these on a number of racing Z06's. Only mod you need to do is change the cam sensor to a 4 pole rather than single.... They also stock all the connectors for the LS7 which is very handy!
Comes in at £1900 though, but it does look like you get what you pay for...

Would definately like to go this route, just need to justify the cost.

Cheers,

Mart

Wayne has an AIM dash in his GTW using the CAN bus link with his MOTEC ECU.
