3000 a year in the 1000 which is my every day car (I walk to work) and 2000 in the S engined toy. Not much really, but a fried of mine still thinks they are "gross polluters" because of thier ages (16 and 40) and should not be used at all!
Ask your mate how much more carbon footprint you'd have belched out if you'd taken the trouble to buy a new car or keep replacing your car with a new one every 12months. Ask him if he has any idea of the energy and resources required to make a new car....
Old cars (properly maintained) are guilt free motoring in the new enviro-lentilist age.
apologies - rant over - this is not any form of threadknapping!!

Latest one has done 11k in 2.5 years in daily use. All local stuff, the last one (1983 mayfair) we passed on to a new owner with 120k on the clock and it is still licenced today - so you can do big mileages, but I remember one we had about 20 years ago and did 26k in 2 years. Someone told me the main brgs don't like motorway constant speeds and yes you guessed it the oil seal went. I did not wait for any bearing problems and sold it quickly after doing the clutch/seal. Great cars for short runs, but a bit tedious on long runs (but worth it to hear that exhaust note through town).
