Well I had ordered a 320D M Sport Coupe for delivery in April, to replace the 318i M Sport. I placed the order and thought about it for a week and it didn't feel right. I don't know what it was, but anyway to cut a long story short I went to the dealer today with thoughts of the following alternatives.
325D M Sport Saloon in Black with Lemon Leather and a few bits and bobs
X3 2.0D M Sport in Black with Black Leather and a few bits and bobs
I even looked at a 520D M Sport saloon in Carbon Black with Leather and a few bits and bobs
Anyway I decided I didn't want any of the above and fell in love with
a Z4 3.0Si Sport Coupe
I have chosen the following specification.
Stratus Grey (Car in the showroom was in this colour and it looked fab)
Black Dakota Leather
Comfort Pack (I think this is parking sensors, multifunction wheel and something else)
Bluetooth
Cruise Control
The car will be factory order and here in May. I did have the choice of an identical spec car but with Sun Protection Glass instead of Cruise. That car was a physical one and i could have had it at the end of March.

Catherine, Very pleased you took the one from stock, I ordered a 3.0 coupe yesterday too.
Stratus Grey, red leather, loads of bits and bobs.
Looks like I may be one further up the queue (was quoted May too). Dealer seemed quite generous by matching internet prices - guess that means I'll be knackered at resale!

Don't think you will be knackered come resale.
On my current 318i M Sport, I got a 12% discount last September. The car as you will see from my profile is white and as such although white I read somewhere is due to be the 3rd most popular colour in 2008, people sucked through their teeth when I bought and said I would get stuffed when I sold it.
Nothing could have been further from the truth. I have now got a great relationship with my dealer and they do look after me. Certainly while ever BMW keep churning out great cars, I shall be buying from them.
Is your BMW replacing an existing car?
BTW Peter, I love your Grinnall, have you still got it?

Peter,
I'm Catherine's other half, and as usual, she's beat me to the post!!! Loooking forward to getting into a sports car again. Personally, I'd have said get the model with cruise, and you can always get the pimp tints at the later date. Once you have a car with cruise, you kind of get used to it, But, other than that, I think the colour is fantastic, and should be a joy to drive.
Can I also second her thought on the Scorpion. Nearly went for one on a couple of occasions. At the time, I thought is was one of the most remarkable vehicles I'd ever driven. Mark is a top bloke, even arranging for us to meet Roger Cook who had one at the time, although his had the front spoiler on which wasn't my cup of tea.
Have fun with your Z4 when it arrives.

Yes sure is replacing an existing car! Unlike you two, 4 seems to be my natural limit.
It'll be replacing the smart roadster which has been fun and very fuel efficient. I'm tired of the twice a month 200 mile round trips in it now though. (Leaves your head ringing for a while after you get out).
The dealer offered me a cracking deal on a pre registered 3.0 z4 roadster, but I don't want another soft top. In the end I wanted cruise and heated seats (it's a bit chilly at 5am) after scouring the used cars it seemed that I could only have a second hand one in silver in the right spec. Once I realised I could have a new one with toys galore for less than the advertised second hand prices it became a no brainer.
Yep, still got the scorp. It's great fun and gets the pulse racing most trips. I've done 1400 miles in it in the first year - not bad for a car with no roof! It needs an oil change and a few bits and bobs tightening up, so I'll be dismanteling the rear half to get at the oil filler! (seems like a sping job to me)

Hi Peter,
Ours is replacing my 318i. I just have the habit of going through cars, allegedly we have food in our cupboards older than my cars.
I don't know if you have seen a Stratus Grey with Dream Red, but there is an Approved Used car in that colour scheme if you want to see one.
I nearly went for Status with Beige (The colour scheme in the showroom), but unfortunately the beige extends a little too much throughout the cabin). So that was a no no as I think it would get a bit grubby too quickly.

Looking at your previous motors, I wondered if you would be kind enough to supply me with ten thousand ten pound notes for this years bonfire in November!! You've clearly got money to burn if you can take depreciation like that!!!

Ive mainly avoided it by striking some great deals to cover negative equity. There are some exceptions of course. Ive been truly spanked by Porsche and made money on an M3. Ive certainly learnt lessons on specification thats for sure.
Admitedly I have stuck my hand in my pocket, but by not as much as you would think, plus as I don't drink (too much), smoke, have kids I have to spend my money on something.
