Just been told that the car I'm looking at needs new CV boots. What does this mean? Is it something that I should be overly concerned about?

They are the rubber 'bellows' that fit over the constant velocity joints. If they are holed the greese will quickly escape and the joint will wear out pronto.

I dare say porsche take the P with prices but on a normal car most garages charge less than £50 a side to do (even that is a ripoff because they split the hub and use a stretchy boot).

If the cv itself goes thats much more costly to fix.
