Header tank is a DIY job if you're vaguely competent with the spanners or about £200 fitted at an indie.

Nope, it can all be done through the bonnet.

BlairOut is correct ... according to Wikipedia ...

Definition of bonnet ... "The hood (US) also commonly known as a flop top (West Coast US) or bonnet (UK) is the hinged cover over the engine of motor vehicles that allows access to the engine compartment for maintenance and repair."

Definition of boot ... "The boot of an automobile or car is the vehicle's main storage or luggage compartment. Trunk is used in North American English whilst boot is used elsewhere in the English speaking world. The compartment may be located either at the front or the rear of the vehicle - normally at the other end of the vehicle to which the engine is located"

Header tank isn't covered, but I got mine done under goodwill. Doubt they'll do this unless you have full OPC stamps and a decent relationship with OPC, and you bought the car from them

Steering rack might be covered, depends on the nature of the fault.

It's not the location, it's the material as I understand it,it age hardens and ends up cracking under pressure. It's relatively inexpensive to replace but it does make a warranty seem a bit pointless if it doesn't cover the things that break.

Hi there

I signed up to the Hartech LMP bit of a pain going up to leeds etc but otherwise peace of mind achieved.

This is exactly why I decided on the Hartech route.

For a bit less than the cost of the Warranty you get all servicing and MOT work AND labour for everything including Wear & Tear items.

I had the coolant tank replaced last year, cost about £130 for the parts, no labour.

I got the car back after MOT last week - nothing to pay, they even swapped my dodgey number plate to a 'proper one' for me which went above and beyond - as usual!

Which OPC are you using ? I was told by Reading and others that my radiators wouldn't be covered, a visit to Solihull Porsche (not the closest to me) got them replaced under warranty.

I personally feel that any OPC centre owned by Porsche GB has a conflict of interest where warranty issues are concerned. Best try one of the smaller independantly owned ones IMO

what about a thermostat ? that expands and contracts and is in coolant....

The header tanks crackat the bottom of the casting and it seems very thin there i have fitted quite a few to the 996 c2/c4 cars.

Here we go again.

On the other hand, playing Devil's avocado for a minute, maybe you bought an example that needed work.

At the moment the bill looks like

1. Header tank
2. Steering rack
3. RMS (warranty)

Did you get the car inpected before you bought it??

I've always had a rear spoiler rattle. Thought it was designed in

The door catch caveat is a bit cheeky though...
