Soooooo, it's service time, folks.

Major service plus fuel filter plus belt (no plugs or brake fluid though...)

Last time I got billed well over £120 for oil IIRC. I can get Mobil 1 0W-40 from CostCo for £15 for 4 litres!!!

I am therefore thinking of going to the OPC with three bottle of Mobil 1 in the boot and asking them to use that.

Now, obviously I will look mean (am I bovvered..?) but has anyone done this? Will they take offence? Anyone ever done this??

They wont take offence, they will keep your bottle and fill your car up with some second-hand shite from cars they serviced before.idea

Just had my GT3 serviced at Exeter OPC.

Supplied my own oil ( Castrol RS 0-40 ) no problem.

The technician who carried out the service returned about 1.75 litres to me in one of the cartons.

I'm sure in your case they provide the chef's baby gravy at the first available opportunity rather than waiting for you to send it back.

But Kev, are you encouraging me to pay OPC prices?

Are you feeling unwell?

All I am trying to do is save a few quid so I can blow it on something else, you div.

Stating the obvious but:
The capacity should be in your handbook (but 3off 4litre cartons should be plenty).
I think the Costco price is £19.99 +VAT unless they now have an offer on (still a good saving).
Mobil 1 comes in different grades, make sure it's suitable and keep the receipt with the service bills.

Yes it's in the handbook, but I just wanted to check so I can pick it up on the way home. I'll buy 12 litres.

Cheers.

And Kev, I'll check the dipstick for chip fat before I leave, OK?

I may be a div as you put it so beautifully, but the thought of piss-arsing around to save the equivalant of a tank of petrol on a Porsche is laughable.Im sure Halfords would be cheaper,or better still leave the old oil in the car..im sure you'll get away with it.

Last time mine was serviced i bought the oil from Costco and left it in the car. Porsche were happy to use it and returned any excess. Saved over £100. When I booked it in i told Porsche what i was going to do and the service guy said "i don't blame you - i'd do the same".

You'll probably want to top up the washer fluid before the service so that doesn't end up on your bill too.

I have about half a dozen Porsche washer fluid bottles in the garage - was tempted to sell when I saw someone was getting about £8 for them on eBay (think they're less new from an OPC), but was just too lazy rolleyes

I am getting mean in my old age.

I just thought I'd save a hundred sheets and take my bird to Nobu instead.

Its alright being smart and cutting corners, maybe thats why the OPC's dont bother servicing the cars properly sometimes..if you nick their profit margins they will get them back some other way..That how profitable businesses work. How can you ever tell whether they have serviced the car properly unless you check all the service components used..you cant. Its a bit of a gamble pissing them off for £100 quid saving imo.

Because I want all OPC stamps in the book, mate.

And besides, I trust the OPC it's going to. I count the service manager as a friend. So KayC, I think your paranoia is misplaced.

He knows that I run the car on a budget, and has often thrown in work for free without me even asking.
