The other night i looked out the window and saw the clouds were very orange so went to try some pictures. This is the results. The quality is pretty rubbish because i had the ISO right up at 1600 to get a decent shutter speed (dont have a tripod). Is there anything else i could have done to get better results?

# Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 1/13 second
# Lens F-Number/F-Stop = F5.60
# Exposure Program = aperture priority (3)
# ISO Speed Ratings = 1600
# Metering Mode = pattern / multi-segment (5)
# Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode

# Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 1/30 second
# Lens F-Number/F-Stop = F5.60
# Exposure Program = aperture priority (3)
# ISO Speed Ratings = 1600
# Metering Mode = pattern / multi-segment (5)
# Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode

EXIF data added.

White balance looks off to me in the first pic (although I quite like the colours), and you used manual WB. How did you set it?

hmmm i dont remember setting the white balance to manual,it must have just been set at that when i was playing about then forgot to put it back to one of the settings. Unless changing the white balance in Adobe camera raw could have changed the EXIF, this was the first time i tried RAW aswell and i think i might have changed the white balance.

Best tip.

Get near some water.

Second best tip.

Try the Highlands - all these taken sitting outside my local pub... sunsets are a great excuse!

I've left the most extreme one off as everyone says it's faked.

The only real amswer is to buy yourself a tripod!!

You could have rested the camera on anything though, even the floor on an old towel or something.

You can't do decent low light landscape without having the camera fixed and still.

You'll be pleased to know that all the above were very much tripod pics. Down to 1/2 sec
