Evel Knievel's Back
Well... not really
![]() |
This year sees the 30th anniversary of Evel Knievel’s record breaking jump from the highest ramp. And to celebrate Evel’s daredevil exploits, Chester’s Centurion Harley-Davidson has created a special edition bike honouring the legendary stunt rider.
A Buell Lightning XB9S (Harley-Davidson’s sports bike brand) has been stripped and repainted in the stars and stripes colours synonymous with Knievel’s amazing feats.
The Lightning is the bike of choice for Craig Jones, one of the world’s leading extreme riding professionals. Craig is the reigning European stunt riding champion on Buell and Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and recently used a stock Lightning XB9S to smash the world stoppie record by over 60 metres, setting a new record of 225 metres (longer than two international-sized football pitches).
Kirk Herbert, the after sales manager at Centurion, had the idea for the Evel Buell. "It seems fitting for such a great motorcycle to pay tribute to one of the greatest stunt riders in history," he said. If Evel Knievel were still jumping buses today the Lightning is probably the bike he’d be using.
This unique XB9S is on sale at Centurion in Foregate Street for £7,845. The dealership will also offer this paint scheme on any new or used XB9S for £500.
Look out for other designs for the Lightning from Kirk, including a ‘Spiderman’ theme!

Fantastic, never went in a straight line, never did anything good. If I recall correctly my dad ran over mine in the garage.
