Any idea on what dB a 964RS outputs?

On mine I have the cat removed and the cup bypass fitted (so only 1 of the silencers). Any idea on what kind of dB range I should expect?

I do have the other silencer, so could fit that if needed (though it's a pain in the ass to do that).

Just looking for a rough idea so I don't waste my money and get turned away from a track day on the day. It is a reasonably noisy car

Cheers,
Jamie

At a guess from your description 108db.....certainly above the 105db static test for a loud day.......brands seems to let a few of these on from time, but forget bedford, combe, goodwood and probably donny for static test...drive by at 1/2 throttle may be ok

Thanks. 108 wouldn't surprise me, I had complaints from neighbours the day I got it. Then again 6500 revs in an underground carpark doesn't help

I guess the thing to do is to book onto a noisey trackday, so I can get it measured. At least then I'll know what to book on or not to book on.

Maybe I'll get the other silencer on. Yeah it would be a real pity, but I'd rather use the car on the track than restrict myself too much.

Vroooommm.....

Yes, about 105dB with cat bypass and cup pipe. I've got the same, but put the primary back on when I want to do Combe, Bedford etc. With practice, you should be able to swap the exhaust in about 1/2 hour.

A mate and I did try, but gave up after about 2 hours. The bolts were quite stubbon. Getting them off and putting some fresh ones one would make it a quick job - well worth doing I think.

It may not have helped that we have a few pints of Leffe first...

BTW, a problem I have with my RS is that is it *so* low. The standard scissor jack won't fit under the side (god help me if I have a puncture!) and neither would a low profile trolly jack. We needed to get a trolly jack under the engine to lift it up on it's suspension so a jack could get under the side.

Last week I took if for an MOT and it couldn't even get into the garage to get on the lift! I've had to find another MOT station with a sunken lift!

Funny thing is, I don't normally have a lot of problems with it on the road...

Mine had your set up and was 108db.

No good for static tests - which knackers Oulton Park - so replaced cup pipe with normal silencer.

Now back to 104 static which means my favourite track can stay top of my list....

Hi Allan - it is! From Paul McLean (GT Classics) - who I knew from his pre-porsche days.

Can you email me at jamie.osh at gmail dot com? Would be good to know a bit more about it.

Cheers,
Jamie

Hi 964RS, I was thinking of doing Oulton in March - the easytrack RS meet.

So I def need the main silencer back on? Seems like it's going to be worth my while getting it refitted with some easy to get on/off bolts...
