Help - Atlas grey

all the web pictures I can find look like a dark blue grey if that makes sense
Yes, that makes complete sense. I went for Atlas Grey on my 997, and am delighted with it. Looking at the car in normal light, you might think it is simply a dark grey (gun metal-like, if not darker), but there is definitely a blue-ish tinge, particularly in sunlight.
I think it looks great, although it would obviously be better if you could actually get to see one. I obviously don't know where you're located, but the OPC in Reading usually seem to have most "normal" colours there in some shape or form (given the large number of cars that they tend to have waiting for delivery in the depot round the back of the showroom).

Can anyone describe atlas grey to me? I need to finalise my colour choice today - and all the web pictures I can find look like a dark blue grey if that makes sense - or is it just a very dark grey?
Now this I can certainly help with
I have it on my cheap 911 / expensive Boxster and if I was to order another, I would choose it again.
Firstly, a picture showing what the colour really looks like:
The thing is it only looks like that when clean and in bright sunlight.
Secondly, this is what it looks like to most people, most of the time. Sort of a black that's not quite a black. Here you can see it parked next to a gloss black car:
Finally, cleaned and in the sunshine...
I really like it. I wanted black, but there are so many about I didn't want one. Seal grey does doesn't do it for me, but this, an off-black that looks great when polished is absolutely what I wanted. Some people say they see flecks of blue in it... I don't!
Hope that helps
Ben

Pikey: Cool white stripe on your Cayman
Interesting you should say that as it wasn't so cool when it came off. Some of the paint came off with it (on top of the boot lid) and I had to take it to a body shop to be fixed. Although it wasn't a problem to fix (the paint was untouched, only the lacquer had been damaged) the paint spraying bloke of 30 years man & boy said it shouldn't have damaged at all and was not factory's work! His theory was that the car was damaged between factory and dealer and the dealer had had it corrected before it went to the customer... and not that well. He also put a guarantee that if I put stickers on it next year and they take any of his repair off he will repair it at no charge!
So, storm in to Porsche saying "you b'stards" and get flack for having a sticker on in the first place and could I prove it'd been repaired shoddily... or just let it go? I like an easy life, me

??? Surely I'd been p*ssed off initially as well. but if I can choose between wasting my time with a silly dealer or going for a spin in my toy, I know what my preferences would be...
