Poor Fuse Connection

Leaving work today I get into the Noble and turn the key, the engine turns over but doesn't fire up. I try a few more times and it doesn't start . Being mechanically challenged I call the AA, who say they'll be there in 15 minutes - impressed! I decide to give Gary a call. He asks me to turn the ignition on and see if I can hear the fuel pump whirring - which I can't. He tells me to give the far offside fuse (above the dip stick) a jiggle and hey presto the fuel pump intermittently whirrs into life - problem identified! Gary tells me to scrape the blade fuse pins to remove the deposits causing a poor connection and refit. I do as instructed, the car starts and the problem is solved. Just then the AA man turns up, we have a chat about the car, he replaces the fuse with a new one anyway and then I'm on my way . Just thought I'd post this in case the same thing happens to anyone else - although you probably would have worked it out for yourselves . Thanks to Gary for the fix and the AA for turning up so promptly

The fuses coming loose thing. had an intermitant fault for a while with my M12, turned out to be the fuses comming loose. Cost me a bit to get it home one evening after breaking down right outside the school I work at.... The money hurt but the abuse and rip taking was worse.

Someone on this forum, I can't remember who, suggested twisting the contacts a little to get the fuses gripping better.
