Think my oil need topping up in my 964 c2, oil level gauge barely gets out of red when engine is at correct temperature. How much should I put in? As I'm scared of putting too much in and causing engine damage this way.
CAnt really get a idea from dipstick as its difficult to see where oil is on stick as its only leaving a small trace.

cheers for the heads up nerv
to the op, firtlt check the dipstick that the gauge isn't faulty
if you do need oil take the car for a gentle run to get the oil nice and hot and then park it on level ground WITH THE ENGINE ON
open the engine lid and top up, you should be able to see the gauge going up whilst you pour the oil in slowly
let it idle for a minute or so and check with the dipstick once again
where you get the oil from will be subject to much debate

Operation complete. needle to 3/4 mark, used around a litre well probally 7-800ml. I got a bit excited fumbling around in the dark, I missed the hole with my first attempt, so I had a load splatter round the rim and slide down underneath her.
Did you see the fanbelt?
Yes I did but it looks like its been round the block a few times with more than one not so careful owner.

On a similar note does anyone else struggle to get oil into a 993. My 964 was no problem but I spill it every time with my 993. I think it might be the silly flexible plastic insert which is too narrow and blocks up. Can / should I just take this out
Not since I bought a funnel....get one here....
