Just posted this on the TVRCC forum - thought I'd do the same for PH:

Picked up my Saggy yesterday from TVR Centre. It went in on December 4th for "Warranty work" on the gearbox and Dashboard electronics. During the last 6/7 weeks I have been given every permutation of stories from "don't worry it's all sorted and under warranty" to "actually it may well be covered but that doesn't mean diddly if the factory isn't paying for anything".

Well, here's the bottom line - YOUR TVR's FACTORY WARRANTY IS WORTHLESS. I had to pay for everything and, not only that, because the factory isn't even paying TNT all their parts are stuck in a distribution centre meaning that my car is now running dashboard electronics from a T350 and has gained 2,500 miles since I left it with the dealer.

Now, Martin and the guys at TVR Centre have been their usual excellent selves throughout this whole saga and I have little doubt that my problems have been beyond their control but the fact is that the situation has just cost me a couple of grand and that's with Martin and the guys discounting their services in order to mitigate the situation I'm in. TVR Centre tell me that things may get better in the next 2/3 weeks but so long as TVR are not paying any bills it won't - it affects the whole chain TVR Power won't do anything 'cos the factory won't pay them which means the dealers won't do anything 'cos TVR Power won't do anything without payment - and so so, and in summary I will end this thread as follows:

YOUR TVR FACTORY WARRANTY IS WORTHLESS

Thats not good

I hope this situation is sorted out quickly or I can imagine a lot of legal action will be being taken.

Not that surprised at all, but I have my sympathy with all those who perhaps believed that all may eventually be well.
My guess would be that this is really just the tip of the iceberg as far as who now "owns" what liabilities as well as assets from the many factions that was once TVR.
All in all a very sad situation and given the very bespoke nature and complex technicailites of certain pasrt (eg dashboard instruments etc) then it seems that many will be similarly stuck over the coming months and years.

Does anyone know which of the myriad TVR companies the warranty agreement is with? Is it still trading?

Bummer, but not altogether a surprise in the circumstances.

More importantly though, thinking ahead, any more detail on the parts situation ?
Apart from TNT, unpaid, won't deliver, I mean...

Only thing I discovered re parts is that TVR Power has a lot of them but definately not all of them - solid state electronics for starters. Got a feeling that if I had got my fixed ECU back (or when I get it back ) that I might not have been charged for the fix - but would certainloyo have been charged labour to put it back in.

How can the factory pay for the warranty work when there is nobody at the factory and hasn't been for weeks...? Isn't the warranty with Blackpool Automotive Ltd. currently in recivership due to no money to pay any bills...?
Correct me if I am wrong.

Guys, I was asking this question last week when I was discussing whether it is a good time to buy a TVR Tuscan 2 with part warranty. When I was chatting to Chas at Racing Green a week or two ago he assured me that warranty claims would be honoured and that even TVR Power would pick up the tab. I doubted this with him. One solution is to try and buy at a trade price i.e. without any form of warranty and buy a TVR Power warranty, but I suppose there is still the problem of accessing parts etc. Not good. I wish I had never sold my Griffith Limited edition this summer. Poo!

Are the warranties underwritten by an insurer? If so is each warranty a single payment type ( which would be usual)or subject to TVR paying regularly into the scheme. It might be worth reading th every small print...

The warranty is not underwritten by an insurer. In the absence of a statement from TVR you have to assume Jappo's right... your warranty is worthless.

The Warranty is no longer the responsibility of BA if recent PR is to be believed.

Wayne,
Not good that you got stuffed for a bill that should have been covered by warranty. Do you think you would have been dealt with differently if the TVR Centre were in a better shape?

My (05) warranty is with TVR Engineering Ltd (and carries the name of Peter Wheeler - Chairman).
Dunno what that means. It's in with Racing Green at the moment who have hopefully stopped it acting like a swimming pool! I'll see what they have to say tomorrow when I pick it up (not that fixing a leak is covered under the warranty outside the first year anyway).

Sorry about your troubles.
I am not sure if you mean your own particular part is stuck in a TNT distribution centre or you are talking generally.
TNT won’t hold things warehoused indefinitely. They probably have a contract clause allowing them to dispose of items after a time.
If it is your property, get in touch with them and offer to pay the carriage charges. They would probably be glad to get rid and be paid. I guess the carriage is about £10. If the mess sorts itself out try claiming it back off whoever.
Worst-case scenario, this part will never be available again. Worth a tenner to get your hands on it?
While you are onto them, try to find out what TNT is holding and can it be bought. It may be that small fortune in parts could be obtained for the price of TNT’s outstanding bill. I would hate to see the parts dumped.

Sorry to hear this. I'm afraid I said this would happen some time ago and got slated for it. But you don't want to hear that. I really do hope you get a result. Good luck.

I reckon (extended warranty exluded) that the dealer should be responsible for warranty repairs even if he can't lay off the cost with the manufacturer.

When you buy a car, the contract is usually with the dealer. It is therefore their obligation.

New car Warranties are the responsibility of the manufacturer not the dealer. As for whether I'd have had better luck had not the TVR Centre been in trouble - possibly. My guess is that somewhere along the line - TVR Power for example - TVR Centre owes people money. They went into liquidation 2 days after I put my car in there for the work.

I asked long and hard about the TNT situation - but only through TVR Centre, not TNT themselves. I was told that TNT won't deal, except with TVR themselves. Having said this it would be interesting to find out how much TVR owes them - but how?

Joking aside, actually really gutted to hear of your trauma. I guess its the first of many. What a way to go. weeping

Somebody on here must know somebody from TNT ? The courier companies usually have a central point for holding disputed packages, so finding that and seeing what the situation is might be a way forward.
