I got a shock when browsing the "TVR" section of the website Exoticspotter.com when I saw TWO pictures of a TVR Tuscan cruising the streets of California. The guy who took the pic also notes the confusion in seeing this TVR considering theres no way of getting a modern TVR into the USA.

Any of you guys seen this pic before? How the hell did this guy get a TVR into the US?

Oh yeah, also, theres also a video on google video of a TVR (could be the same one), driving in a california street The video is only 9 seconds long, but long enough to capture the TVR stopped at a set of lights. When I get the link i'll post it.

Swordfish - different colour; well, it may have been re-sprayed I suppose scratchchin

IMHO there were three Tuscans involved. One is happily driving the streets of the UK; last time I saw a second one it was the one full of holes in the factory.... (I'll see if I still have a picture...)

Edited to add - well, it waan't this one:

As its on Uk plates I'd say it may just be some Brits having a driving holiday in the US?

Yah.. if you have a foreign passport, I think you import a car with you for up to a year before you have to ship it back out of the country. Thus the plates.

I though you could bring cars, such as TVR's, into the US for show use only, i.e very limited mileage

Nah I doubt its a photoshop. You can even see the reflection of the red car in the tuscan. Looks 100% genuine.

You can run a vehicle on UK plates and without US type approval on a non-resident visa (H1, L1, etc) for a year, after which you have to re-export. Quite a few expats do this. This one does look to have a Cal rear plate though. Many California vehicles don't show a front plate, or have some sort of display plate, although technically you are supposed to have both front and reat

Just watched my "The making of ...." and the director, Dominic Sena, says that TVR sent 4 cars ! So I guess that was what was on the tax bill rather than the number of vehicles that were paid for ??

said 1st pic (rear view), not 2nd one and photoshopping just the part with the plate wouldn't be that hard...
anyway, doesn't change the fact that on the video, it has UK plates (rear and front), as well as on the 2nd pic (front view)
