anybody got pictues of the different blacks available..I remember seeing a very 'matt' black on a 911 recently and would love to know if it is a standard colour...

non-metallic black is called brilliant black - it was std, the metallic basalt black was a £600 option (much nicer IMHO)
I hear the non-metallic is the worse colour for scratches and swirls

mine is basalt black, click on my profile
Mine is also basalt black, but the great thing about the shade is it goes a bit blue in different light. Click on my profile for details. I used to have a solid black Boxster, which I wouldn't recommend. As mentioned earlier, it's very susceptible to scratches...

Nice car. What are the basic diffs between your old 996 and your 997 , bar looks ?

Thanks. From behind the wheel, it just feels better. Better quality materials, better design and better to drive. It seems to adapt to whatever mood you're in. My old 996 felt slightly more raw most of the time (not necessarily a bad thing of course), but the 997 feels more grown up. More of a GT. However, there's that little button on the dash that lets you play with the PASM and firm up the suspension. All of a sudden you're driving a psuedo-GT3. Perhaps it's even too firm for UK roads. And from what I've read, the addition of the Sport Chrono pack's 'sport' button, this feeling can be exaggerated even further. Still miss my old 996 though. I'm sure I'll always have a soft spot for my first 911...

Cool wheels. Thinking about getting that done. Solid black or basalt? Factory fit or specialist after delivery?
Basalt black, with black wheels and a permagard finish.
It's much easier to keep clean since the permagard work.
