I was to print this shot (taken by a mte in Tokyo), onto canvas - A2 kind of size. First question is who are the best people to do this? Snappy Snaps etc do it, but I'd like to make sure I get a decent finish.

The second question is, what could I do as an alternative? I've seen a few places that will print onto aluminium etc. Not sure I'd like that but is there something I could do that would mean the picture retains that lovely glow coming from the lanterns?

Thanks all!

THere is a PH'er who offers a canvas printing service, I think it's www.fluid-images.co.uk

edit - I've just checked the web address and it is.

I had Tim at Fluid Images do two canvas prints for me, one 18*24 and one 20*20. Both came out really, really great and I'd whole heartidly recommend him.

I'm not sure what prices Fluid-Images charge, but I'm currently in the market for 3 prints for a friend and couldn't in good concience not point you here:

Less than half the price of photobox, so if the quality is reasonable, a real bargain.

I'd be happy to produce a high quality print to canvas for you.

Word of warning - there are a great many companies offering canvas printing right now, and the quality, like conventional printing, varies wildly.

A large 44" roll of canvas can be bought for £300, and can also be found for £75. Equally, Epson Ultrachrome inks cost £55 each, but non-branded can be purchased for under a tenner. The difference in both canvasses is not only immediately apparent, but will also show in terms of durability - the Epson ink is guaranteed fade-free, and in combination with a good varnish should never lose its 'richness.'

Done well, the effect of a picture printed onto canvas is absolutely stunning.

Plug / rant over !

I should add that, having produced many canvas prints for PH'ers over the last year, I'm happy to offer a 15% discount to forum members......
