3rd Party Warranty
Discussion
I have just been offered an extended warranty by the AA. It is to cover my 2003 540sport, they tell me it covers everything but the usual wear and tear. Cost is £21.62 p/m (for a 2year policy, with a £50 excess)!!!!
Does anyone have any experience of them?
I did not renew the BMW warranty for obvious reasons, I have also owned 3 E39's over an 8 year period and have had no major issues.
Any feedback would be great.

Just signed up with warranty direct (www.warrantydirect.co.uk/)
Lot's of companies provide after market warranties but they all have the wear and tear exclusion which would / could cover almost anything they chose it to.
Warranty Direct cover W&T after 90 days of a warranty with them. I have 14 days to cancel the policy (distance selling and all that) so I'll have a good read and ask them some questions about wether the navigation is covered and if it is, I'll stay with them. £25 excess of each claim but it is limited to £5K per year.
Hope this helps

Be careful with the terms and conditions, a lot of aftermarket warranties don't cover diagnostic work.
Got to agree...it comes down to the wording of the policy. The warranty I have taken up does not cover diagnostic work that then identifies a fault that is not covered by the warranty....but an independent would probably give a good insight into the likely problem.
It's always a balance between costs and benefits.....
As for the ongoing issue of the Porsche and warranty issue as mentioned above...can't comment other than saying I don't personally agree with views that summarises as "company X is crap, therefore all other's are crap too"....but we're all entitled to our views

I had an aftermarket warranty with my e46 320d - I believe it was with warranty direct. Had a problem with power loss - the garage I took it to said it was probably a turbo related issue. Warranty direct said the garage would have to remove the turbo, send it to somewhere in essex to be tested, then it would be returned fixed for the garage to refit. However, warranty direct said if the turbo was not faulty, I would have to pay somewhere in the region of £100 for testing, plus any labour the garage used removing it.
Also the warranty company said they could not make any outgoing phone calls - the garage would have to call them with the outcome of tests. Also they wouldn't phone me with any news, I had to phone them.
Finally, a lot of garages wont get involved with any warranty companies as they often have trouble getting payment...
Hope that helps.
