How many people in the past three to four months have spent in the region of 30-40K on a TVR? Are people buying or waiting to see if all the negative press(granted) has scared people off.

I think the lower priced Tiv's are selling - cars like Griffs, Chims, Classics, Wedges, etc, but more expensive models - T350's, Sag's and Tuscans don't seem to be moving very well at the moment - plus at least two dealers are offering stupid money for them, ie: Sag's being underwritten in their mid to late 20's. Guess people are waiting to see whats going to happen. Good news for buyers, crap news for sellers. I guess if you're buying then buy, if you're selling then wait a while.

I am actually looking at Sag's at the mo, and as good as it might be for people like me, I can't help but think anyone willing to accept that sort of money must be either mental or desperate, or both.

I purchased a sag 2 months ago for £38000. The price was so good, I was forced to purchase earlier than I wanted to.

I think the worst that can happen for TVR has already happened.

Are people still driving and enjoying their TVRs just as much as a year ago? Are they still getting serviced at the same Indies and remaining garages? Are owners still buying upgrades from Trackcar, Jules, etc?

The answer is a resounding yes

TVR production in the UK is finished. It sucks in the most depressing way, but its happened. And just like any other tragedy, time will lessen the blow and life moves on.

If anything, the recent events will see the price of second hand TVRs rise, by quite alot if you think about it.
No more new Tivs. But plenty to buy second hand, and plenty of garages to service them.
Demand won't fall, because a Griffith is still a Griffith, a Cerbera is still a Cerbera, etc, etc, and they are as gorgeous now as they were 6 months ago. People will always want one, and numbers will very slowly decrease over time through write offs.

Whatever problems that arise (and the only one I can think of , maybe, are parts) in the future will almost certainly find a resooution. One way or another.

I love my Cerbera and see no reason to sell it. Although I would LOVE a Sagaris.

AIMHO ofcourse.

The problem is, they are buying for mid 20s, but still asking mid 30s for the same car i suppose that is the car game. Most say they have to have at least 10k in a deal.

Bought the Typhon in December, and the replacment Sagaris in August for 42K.
Thinking about thinking about thinking about changing the Chim for a Tusc 'vert. But just thinking about it.
Don't see any real problem for spares etc. Waiting on the outcome/proof of pudding re warranties.

I was told by TVR Power that the warranties will be honored.

Hi, Richard,

Regardless of what happens to TVR there seems little doubt that spares for engine/gearbox and other mechanicals will be no problem except, maybe, the engine block for Sp6 if there's no resumption of production. Things like the instrument pod are more of a worry though. I'm told there is one dealership which makes its own replacement actuator thingie for the Tuscan II electric windows and it tends to suggest that there's an answer to all problems.

The rumours are very strong that the 3-year warranty will be honoured. But we await confirmation, though.

If I had a Speed 6 engined TVR I'd hold off selling it for a while. Production of new TVRs will take a bit of time to start up so it's not as if there will be any dumping on the open market.

I only wish I had enough cash for a late model Tamora.

Had I just not bought a house, I'd quite happily spend 50k on a Sag - trouble is people don't see through the tabloid headlines, just look at what you get for your money.

It's like buying an apartment on the Thames for 120k!

I feel realyy fortunate that I mortgaged myself to buy my Tamora in April. I knew it was all a bit shaky then but went ahead.

Even though I paid top dollar, I'm not worried about the situation and know that I've got an amazing bit of kit and one of the last to boot.

Thanks for all your responses. The reason I started this topic was I have been trying to sell my car for the past few months and had not so much as a sniff, even though the car is priced correctly(at least thats what I have been told). I just wondered if I was wasting my time. I do think that a certain amount of panic selling has gone on, particularly with some dealers. I agree that some people need their heads testing to accept rediculously low offers. I also agree that we need to be better informed regards to moving forwards and warranty issues before the true prices are reflected.

I bought a tuscan S from new in November. Which is of course pretty mad but so is buying any kind of sportscar really. Ok I could have joined the ranks of unimaginative drones and bought German but at the time there were still a few world beating sports cars for sale that were made in Britain and for me, unfashionably, that still counts for something.

I do worry about the warranty which was excellent and honoured without hesitation during the time I owned my Sagaris but I believe there are enough very highly skilled specialists in the uk to look after the car in the event of TVR never seeing the light of day again. So I don't worry too much about that. Just rather sad that my car is already a classic! In fact it's so good and so endlessly enjoyable to drive and look at I honestly don't get why so few were sold last year. But despite the fears and the potential depreciation I feel proud I did my darndest to keep a brilliant and inspiring british company in business. Didn't achieve much but I feel proud driving it - something I'd never feel behind the wheel of a sausage machine.

Nice looking Tam you have there. There are one or two news ones about, Racing Green had one the last I heard. After driving one in 2004 I thought it best never to do so again as I knew I would not be able to afford one. I drove Austec's recently and even with more power, harsher suspension and other tweeks, its class comes through. The Tuscan II and Convertible handle just as well. It is, as you say, an amazing bit of kit. I know the looks aren't to everyone's taste but the interior must be. And whenever I parked the car for photos I was surrounded by women. I know my own animal magnatism had a lot to do with it but I'm sure the Tam had an effect.

Funny you should mention about the instrument pod Derek I was having a conversation about that exactly a day or so ago. I was rather surpised at what was said. Consequently Ive just started looking into that issue of making sure replacement pods can be produced.

I suspect that the cars showing those kind of prices are going for well under £30K.

I've just bought one

I have, and no amount of uncertainty, or negative press will stop me enjoying it. If it breaks, i'll get it fixed, one way or another thumbup

With the ever increasing 'green' agenda, the increasing focus on 'speed kills', and everything else that's going downhill in this country, now is the perfect time to drive a TVR. We won't be allowed to forever....

A new year the sports car market (esp. TVR) should really now just go upwards as every year, as pointed out here and most other threads, yes it is very sad that at present no more TVR's are being made, feeding the top end of the market, but we cannot change this rght now.

All the TVR's currently in the UK are all exactly the same fun as they were before this happened and there is always a market for such a product.

The major falls have been the later models linked to new car sales and factory warranties concerns - this is not helped by bad press and uniformed comment from everywhere - press, websites, customers, pub gossip, upset ex-dealers and jealous less interesting car owners in general.

But supply and demand always sort markets out in the long run - and it will/has

I am not quite sure everyone makes £10K a car as is pointed out in one section here, some in the last year have been losing that a car on over age stock they failed to move at the correct time in the market.

Parts

Well personally it can't be any worse than the last 15 years and having seen TVR Powers huge warehouse full of everything a TVR owner would/might want/need I am sure really not masses has changed in this department.

I have to say that over the last week TVR Power have found stuff that wasn't supopose to exist or had been out of stock for years according to everyone else.

So fingers crossed and if we all look on the positive side of things that there are still thousands of Ferrari/Porsche beating TVR's out there at very sensible prices.

So lets enjoy this year with TVR and look on the positive side.
