Fibre Glass Repair
Discussion
Morning all,
A bit of advice please. I have a crazing/cracking of the fibre glass on my bonnet assumably caused by twisting etc. Can anyone tell me what is involved in the repair of this? Can any body repairers do it? Is it expensive? I am assuming this would be quite costly as a full bonnet respray will no doubt be required.
Cheers,
Adrian

i believe
crazing or cracking is caused by underelying damage to the GRP so it would have to rubbed down re-matted and primed etc etc ,almost certainly a full repspray on bonnet would need to be done to be a perfect match, if you want a good job find a GRP specialist as they know what to do with the material, a £1000 is probably about average .
Give Option1 a call or look at their web site

you can see pictures of my S3 being done there
hope that helps
There are plenty of experts around but to fix yourself :
You would add a layer or two of 450 gsm mating to the back of the panel to give extra strength, then grind off any top coat gel resin until the crack was gone then add new top coat gel coat, fill and sand. Paint.
It's not for the faint hearted.
