Directional tyres

Have just bought a Merc estate (plenty of room for bin bags!), fitted with directional tyres, including spare.If I have a puncture on the 'wrong side' and fit the spare on pointing the wrong way,am I commiting an offence? Should I get a non directional spare to fit on any corner of the car?

no Tabs your not commiting an offence but if the tyre gets fitted the wrong way round all that will happen is: in the wet the tyre will have reduced grip and in the dry I think the tyre will whare faster
So it would be worth while to fit an non directional tyre for your spare
