Oil Pressure Sensor on V8

How odd, I'm asking the same question as S3Rich on the same day but this time for the V8.

I've been round the engine with a torch but it's eluding me.

I've picked up a secondhand sensor from a local specialist to try to work out if my current one is up the duff, but I just can't find the damn thing on the engine!

I have exactly the same symptoms as LarryB did 2 years ago but can't find any post to say what his problem turned out to be.

Seem to recall its near the oil filter housing, but my memory is a little fuzzy tbh . There is a sender wire obviously attached, first just check the spade connector to the sender isn't corroded as that's simple to do.

Wot Harry said. Easily accessible from under the car - the connector can pick up lots of crud as it's pretty exposed down there.

The oil warning light switch and oil pressure gauge sender are usually screwed into the oil filter head, which is low down at the front of the engine on driver's side. Look for the oil filter, look at the housing the filter is screwed onto, that is the oil filter head. If you have a remote filter, follow the hoses back to the remote take-off and this is screwed into the oil filter head. Look for one (oil warning light) or two (gauge) wires close to this, the thing the wires connect to is the sender.

Thanks chaps, I'm going to get myself under the car tonight.

Ran the engine last night up to warm and I'm almost certain now it's the sensor or the connection.
