Not the UK price yet, but some of the European ones so hopefully an indication of how much it might be when it reaches our shores. Although Im sure we will be taken for a ride with the UK price like we normally are.

France - €143500
Germany - €139200

On current exchange rates that puts the car at less than 100k

There is a full price list on the German site, www.lamborghini.de

I'm thinking about putting a deposit down for one of these aswell.

I have only one major reservation, the importers. Damn it, wish Lamborghini had more dealers here. They really need to sort that out before they can make any major progress in the UK.

Is there any likelihood of a targa or cabriolet version. I know its a bit girlie, but I kinda like my convertible now

I noticed from your profile that you have an order down, when did you place the order and when is likely build date/delivery?

I havent had any issues with Lamborghini UK, but it has only been a brief experience at the moment. They seem alot better than most Porsche dealers I have ever been to.

There are rumours that there will be a targa version next year, as well as a GTR one as well, but nothing more than rumours at the mo.

Yepski Ordered it about a week after the Geneva motorshow (went out there to see it and it looks better in the flesh than in the photos). At that time there was about 100 orders of which Lambo UK reckon 20% will drop out when your 5k deposit is no longer refundable when the car gets the official UK launch (Q3/4 2003). 6 months before delivery you have to pay another 5k. 1st UK orders should arrive early 2004, and I believe mine is scheduled for a Sept 2004 delivery, although Lamborghini seem fairly flexible on delivery dates as long as the order and spec are in, so I could probably get it delayed until 2005 if i wanted.

Hope thats of some use.

According to Top Gear, the gallardo is going to be 120k,

Tom Hartley apparently has options on several early cars available for a premium. anti-social if you ask me...

Thanks for the info fletch. You wouldn't happen to have taken any photos of the car, especially the interior etc?

I'm seriously considering this car, and although it does look more German than Italian, I quite like it. Prefer the Murcielago doors though...

I'd like to have a look at it in the flesh before I place some money on it, so I'll be holding out a little longer before I contact Lamborghini.

Do we HAVE to go through Lambo UK or is there a way around it?

Ninja - I have quite a few photos actually, I'll email them to you when I get home from work. I also found some better ones on the web where they got some good pics of the dash readout which is quite cool. I got some pics of the transparent engine cover option, looks rather cool, just dont know whether its worth the money.

Have to agree about the doors, but until I can stretch to a Murcielago it will have to make do. Apparently they couldnt use those doors because they would have needed to make the car longer (and if they did they'd never sell another Murcielago).
The Gallardo should also be quite a bit cheaper than the Murcielago for servicing because the gearbox is at the rear and its not an engine out job to get to it, or so I have been told.

I know an independent is getting some left hookers in November this year, or as Mikeylad said its a Tom Hartley job and bye bye to another 20k. I wonder if Jason Barker can get hold of them?

Manu - cheers I think (Im scared to read it now )

Cheers fletch. I'll email you now so you have my actual address to send it to. Thanks in advance.

I don't fancy left hand drive, and I wouldn't buy from Tom Hartley!! I'd rather bribe 20k to Lambo UK to move me higher in the waiting list than to pay it to Tom Hartley. Ultimately prefer to do neither though

Look forward to the photos.

Fletch - can you or Ali e mail them to me too please...

What are the options of ordering this car out of the country and paying for it in Euros?? Can wew do that ....why should we have to pay the same in £ as near enough Euros??!!!

...Good old rip off Britain again.....in aabout 5 years our best export is going to be intelligence if it gets any more expensive over here...

Bash - you have mail.

You might even be able to order a right hand drive Gallardo from Europe, but Im sure most of the Lambo dealers will tow the party line and tell you where to go.

Im still slightly optimistic that Lambo UK wont price this car too high, especially since the Euro prices seem reasonable-ish.

Guys, I have contacted Lamborghini of Stuttgart and they have confirmed that they will take orders for this car, 17500 Euros, but it will be for LHD cars only. They stated "they are unable to take orders for RHD cars at present". I queried as to why, and have yet to receive a response.

The warranty is applicable cross europe etc etc.

I'd prefer to buy from the European dealers, not just because of price, but because of my hate for you know who.

I'm considering LHD as delivery could be as early as end of this year, apparently.

Ninja...why the rush? (just out of interest)

I think Top Gear are a little on the steep side.....slightly over 100K is mroe likely IMO....

I WONT buy another car from Lambo UK. Not in a million years. Both Manu and I have LOTS of reasons why I think

You can buy direct from the factory in certain situations.....though they wont let me have even a RHD date yet... the car isn't quite as finalised in some respects as is being let on to be honest....

Night, no major rush. It's just that I pretty much want to change out of the 355 by early next year, and want to have something else to jump straight into .

But I'm with you regarding Lambo UK. I just can't bring myself to pay any money to them, so I'm considering the factory option too. I wouldn't place an order until I've seen one in the flesh and driven one, so I've still got some more time to wait

I also still have some reservations about its looks, but I doubt pictures do it justice.

It would be nice to be on the waiting list though, and as I understand it you can delay your production date anyway. I sincerely hope Lamborghini sort out the dealer situation in the UK, bet they don't even know how many sales they are losing

Nightmare, Manu, can one of you email me to tell me your issues with Lambo UK, you're beginning to worry me now.

Nightmare as an aside what are the certain situations when the factory allow you to buy direct?
Also can you let on what isnt quite finalised about the car yet?

Cheers

has anyone looked at the shape of the rear wing of the gallardo when seen from the front three quarters and thought "testarossa"?

my least favourite part of the design.

Existing customers generally to be honest... or introduction by someone...

Also can you let on what isnt quite finalised about the car yet?

engine tune - having some Murci competition issues!
final suspension set-up
interior is mostly done....some switchgear stuff IIRC
some arguments over rear shape....
