996 GT3 RS v 997 GT3
Discussion
Anyone out there willing to let me have a good (50+ miles) test drive in their 996GT3RS. I'm happy to reciprocate with my 997GT3. Cheers guys. Oops - so sorry - that should read 997GT3 not RS! 996RS is correct! Don't know how to mod. heading.

I will have both my Manthey K410 996 RS and 997 RS next weekend and am planning on getting both to Oulton park in early Feb. I will let you know the results.
Pure greed if you ask me
i hope you don't intend to keep both Barry
Me and a load of guys from PureGT are at Oulton on Sat 10th Feb, if you can make that one.

I will be very interested to hear your verdict, I am guessing the Manthey'd 996 RS is going to be a match for the new RS the K 410 engine upgrade gives a dramatic imrovement in torque and probably near 420bhp so it won't be down on power its just a matter of how good the new 997 RS's PASM is with traction control either on or off. What I have heard of the traction system is it comes in very late so it just might be a good tool to enable the driver to be a bit braver and find some time {on track} knowing there is a saftey net when talent runs out. If they had put it on the 996 RS there wouldn't be so many pranged ones around ,,,,,,,,

I'll be interested too. If it's got Manthey dampers on too and a track setup I can't see the new one being as quick really (not that you couldn't do the same to the new one I know).

I know !!!
I will be keeping both until the summer and then will probably sell the 997, well thats the plan!
I will be at Oulton on the 10th - but probably only for the afternoon as i am at Cadwell with bookatrack on the 11th.
I just didn't want to off load the 996 and regret it if the 997 is not that much better.
Cheers,
Barry

I think you and Glenn would agree that the manthey upgade is really noticable, i recently drove mine and a standard RS back to back and could'nt believe the difference. I reckon it must be on par power wise with a 997.
The issue i suppose will be the PASM and TC, i have yet to experience this so cannot comment. I am sure it will make a complete novice of a driver outshine even the most talented drivers (in a non TC car)on a wet circuit.
Will the new 997 owners be brave enough to turn off the TC on a wet day on track? would they want to turn it off?
I take it with the sale of your car you are taking the plunge?
Regards,
Barry
