Has our Henry-F rediscovered a long lost love and appreciation for one of Zuffenhausen's finest cars or is it just a passing fad that more and more 928s are appearing for sale at his establishment?

Maybe I should hold onto my 928GT and 928S2 5spd and continue to lavish cash on them?

Yours,

Confused from Greenwich

P.S. Allthough my question may appear tongue in cheek, I am actually interested in finding out whether good 928s are beginning to make a bit of a comeback in terms of desirability and prices achieved...

Hey you're not the fella with the two 928s with the 'ring' stickers on them on the road at the top of Point Hill are you? I drive past almost every day.

Yep, they are both mine. A Slate Gray 928GT and a Guards Red 928S2 5-spd...

And yes, they have Ring stickers because they share between them (well, mostly the gray one) over 5000 miles at the Ring...

Just happened to come accross a nice GTS then a GT so bought them. We get offered quite a few 928`s but they are rarely worth buying. A ell of a car for the oney if you find a nice one though. Pure muscle car with looks that would still make the front page if they launched the car today.

Must admit to being quite taken by the GT.... I had a club sport back in the day and did love it...

So just how good condition is it really in then?? Worth coming up to see?

Ultimately it`s 15 years old and not new but we were impressed enough to dig our hands into our pockets. If you`ve seen a few I think you`ll find it one one of the better ones and suspect it`ll find a home.

Do tell - they are rare as hens teeth and any stories by owners are always welcome.

I have been in the mkt for one in Europe for 3yrs but have not seen one for sale baring the ex Derek Bell car, which sold on the day...

I bought it from Dick Lovett is Swindon when it was about 8 months old I think... was a while ago now... Guards Red with black, think it was pin stripe fabric with red piping maybe half leather will have to try and dig some pictures out from somewhere, struggling a bit to remember too many details. I'd gone in to buy an S4 but they had it just arrived, I remember thinking the slightly lower spec wasn't great till I drove it... felt very light and nimble in comparison to a regular S4, great fun all in all.

I had it for about 15 months and 20k ish miles before moving on, can't for the life of me remember what replaced it as the main everyday car, that was well over 50 car ago now.... I need help!

Was close to buying an S4 a few years back. It had an LPG conv on it, which sounds a bit mad on a 928 but it was well hidden. It probably would have bankrupted me as it had a few 'worn' looking areas and was an everyday car, but I still kind of regret not buying it. God, it was a great looking car - don't suppose I'll ever get one now

Whilst we wallow in eighties nostalgia, have you seen the film called "The Business"?

It's been shown on Film4 a few times. Set in the eighties on the costa del crime and is based around the activities of some criminal expats. Anyway, to cut a long story short one of the main characters buys a light blue 928 (may be a GTS) to replace his Mercedes SL that has been shot up by the opposition.

Worth watching for the clothes even if you are not a 928 fan. Everyone is dressed like an extra from a Wham video.

OK I'll go now.

Danny Dyer drove it - thought it was an older S2 though

The GT looks lovely. Fuill set of OPC stamps makes the car worth more, it seems....

It was an 928S2 with Cup 2s and painted spoilers - looked good and sounded proper...

It seems that a full set of OPC stamps commands a premium.

Discuss.

Am a bit fed up with them all appearing. I was looking to change my S4, I fancy a GTS manual or GT and was counting on Henry as a potential buyer (selling privately isnt worth the hassel IMHO) but he seems to be a little long at the moment, great time to buy a fabulous car, bad time to sell one Not sure about the OPC stamps though, my local OPC doesnt know one end of a 928 from the other, give me Loe Bank Northways or Dr Anderson every day

Think there were about 45 RHD GTS manuals, not so many left now.

Best film with a 928 was "Risky Business" which starred Tom Cruise and host of others, in which he put his old mans car into Lake Michigan!!!!!

Really like the 928 GTS Henry, stunning looking car, but not too sure about the wood trim, not really my scene, feels a bit like a merc inside with that.

Had a choice from Longstone Motor Co. years ago over a 3.2 or a S4, and in the end chose a 993 after waiting a few months for the extra cash to appear!! Really wish I'd had the S4 now as love the popup lights and the whole 5.0L thingy.

My uncle has a 1980 928S which he has owned from Brand new and is still going strong!!! Bet there can't be many with that provinence!! He sold his XJS for it, and never parted with it. He has a stable of front engined Porsche as he has a 944 and a 968 in his posession, just cannae get him into a 911, not just yet anyway but there is still time!!!!

Amazing why someone would pay an OPC to service such a car. My 968 had a full OPC history when I brought it. Maybe thats why so much has gone wrong with it, maybe some history with a specilist later in its life would have prevented this, who knows?

For older cars I think a full OPC history is not a good selling point, probably the opposite and they are better looked after by specialists who know what they are looking out for.

Nice car though Henry, fancy a swap with a years worth of Optimax thrown in for free?
