go to carbs or stick with efi ?
Discussion
putting together my project car old tuscan challenge car
and i am trying to decide wheather to stick with the efi or to fitt a four barrel carb ie webber / holly
both have there advantages
carb will look a neater instilation in this car and i will not have to keep visiting rolling roads with the laptop every time i do an upgrade and will probably be cheaper in the long run
efi i have all the standard parts done and ready to fit
any advice would be helpfull
many thanks

Personally ,I would stick with FI.
The megasquirt ecu looks good for its cost, and I like the look of the emerald.
I know the carbs give some good power gains, but in theory they can still go out of tune.
Surely its would make sense to be able to use a laptop and view o2 readings and the like.
Isnt there a local specialist who can help you with tuning and setup??

injectin all the way for me too, but on a proper ecu with mapped ignition : better manners, smooth power delivery, better fuel consumption (yes it's important even on a race car, less fuel carried = faster car), mapped ignition for max power gains, it's a no-brainer for me, still can't understand why people outside of historic series run carbs ..
after running a car with fully mapable fuel and sparks on the rollers a few times and seeing the huge gains you can get by tweeking a few things there is no way i'd go back to carbs.. you can tweek much easier than with carbs, and you can change things in different parts of the range that you cant do on carbs.
yes i did convert the tasmin back to a carb but that was replacing an agricultural expensive to maintain mechanical FI.
the standard rover/tvr stuff is more difficult to tune as the dissy is mechanical and the ecu needs chips. swap that out for an emerald and your well away.
you can run it with a locked distributor or go to crank sensor and coil packs.
with the latest one you can swap between 3 maps on the fly and with a wideband lamba it will adaptive map.
it will also data log, so do a few changes, run down the road. look at the data a few more tweeks
